Thanks for the wonderful exploration. While going through the steps I realized that the ripped up version of plt.subplots() comes as a default option in Gnuplot.

You're welcome @anshu957! Do you have any suggestions for improvements? (notice that I've updated the notebook significantly since you commented.)
