PostgreSQL command line cheatsheet

PSQL

Magic words:

psql -U postgres

Some interesting flags (to see all, use -h or --help depending on your psql version):

  • -E: will describe the underlaying queries of the \ commands (cool for learning!)
  • -l: psql will list all databases and then exit (useful if the user you connect with doesn't has a default database, like at AWS RDS)

Benchmarking Nginx with Go

Today I just wanted to know which of these options is faster:

  • Go HTTP standalone
  • Nginx proxy to Go HTTP
  • Nginx fastcgi to Go TCP FastCGI
  • Nginx fastcgi to Go Unix Socket FastCGI

Hardware

$VERBOSE = nil
require File.expand_path('../rooby', __FILE__)
Person = Rooby::Class.new 'Person' do
define :initialize do |name|
@name = name
end
define :name do

Security is Hard

Massive Assignment

  • watch for ActiveRecord Relation, like has_many, has_many :through
  • watch for user_roles, `group_users
  • UPDATE action
