Resume

Andriy Tyurnikov

Profile

Seasoned web developer looking for opportunities. I do appreciate (or build) mature production environments - CI, exception monitoring, performance monitoring, PaaS when possible.

Experience

Technical Lead, Cater2Me — 2014-2019

This job was quite an experience. We went from team of 2 developers with legacy system and ad-hoc process to agile team of 7 developers (including CTO), 2 Product analysts, 1 designer. It was all about business process automation. We’ve implemented internal systems for invoice management, commissions, inventory management, order lifecycle management etc. We’ve migrated from legacy MS Access system to the family of single page applications and backend API hosted in a Platform As a Service environment (heroku). Also we’ve reinvented a wheel and created custom ServiceObject implementation (https://github.com/cater2me/cater). Exception monitoring, performance monitoring, dependency update policy, CI. Rails, React, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Redis, ServiceObjects, Heroku.

Curator — 2013-2017

I assisted to the group of driven students in their attempt to become Rails developers - they trained themselves while developing SaaS e-commerce platform. It was not serious as e-commerce platform, but it was serious enough to get 4 guys into profession.

Web Developer, CureBit — 2013-2014

Here it was an existing fast growing project with some legacy. Pre-existing team of 6 developers. Aside from some features and bug fixes my contribution was about infrastructure. Performance and exception monitoring tools, master-slave replication for primary database which started suffering from pains of growth, introduction of disposable VM images for painless scaling. Rails, jQuery, MySQL, AWS, Memcached, Redis.

Web Developer, Apptopia — 2012-2013

This one was quite a ride, as a team of 2 developers we’ve delivered first prototype in 2 months, secured investment from Mark Cuban, upscaled team to 4 developers and delivered as mad. Heroku, Rails, jQuery, PostgreSQL, Redis. Core components of the project - marketplace, web scrapping systems (AppStores had no API back then), reporting system.

Web Developer, FutuboxHD — 2011-2012

This one was a Netflix-like video startup. Rails, jQuery, team of 2, tons of widgets.

Web Developer, Helios Technologies — 2010-2011

Helios invited me to lead young team that was supposed to rewrite high load existing PHP projects (Alexa top 1000 web sites). Team of 4 developers (2 per project). The only thing we’ve looked at in existing PHP code was a password function, other then that we’ve rebuilt existing CMS from scratch :) CI, Exception monitoring, Performance monitoring, custom servers.

Web Developer, Freelance — 2006-2010

Various projects shorter then 12 months: printmetryx.com, 30elm.com, weightlosswars.com, fourspots.com, mtracks.com, fynanz.com and few others.

Education

National Mining University of Ukraine, Dnipro, Ukraine — Bachelors degree in Information Security, 2003

Skills

All kinds of Ruby on Rails applications, JavaScript for interactive frontend, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Memcached, Redis, ElasticSearch.
