- Add a box around your design that will copy the paper. This will cause that your design will be aligned with the cutting area. I observed some problems with cutting close to edge of the paper. It is much easier to fix the cutting problem on a straight line than on your complicated design.
- Convert everything into paths before cutting: Select All (Ctrl+A), Path | Object to Path.
- It is possible (and recommended) to use groups (tested in Inkscape 0.92)
