| # UPDATE for 10.10.4+: please consider this patch obsolete, as apple provides a tool called "trimforce" to enable trim support for 3rd party SSDs | |
| # just run "sudo trimforce enable" to activate the trim support from now on! | |

| # Ruby Thread Pool | |
| # ================ | |
| # A thread pool is useful when you wish to do some work in a thread, but do | |
| # not know how much work you will be doing in advance. Spawning one thread | |
| # for each task is potentially expensive, as threads are not free. | |
| # | |
| # In this case, it might be more beneficial to start a predefined set of | |
| # threads and then hand off work to them as it becomes available. This is | |
| # the pure essence of what a thread pool is: an array of threads, all just | |
| # waiting to do some work for you! |
Installing rbx-2.0.0-dev with Ruby 1.9 support using rbenv can be a tad tricky. This is what I did to get up and running, you'll need another version of ruby already installed as well as rake.
The basic outline:
| brew update | |
| brew versions FORMULA | |
| cd `brew --prefix` | |
| git checkout HASH Library/Formula/FORMULA.rb # use output of "brew versions" | |
| brew install FORMULA | |
| brew switch FORMULA VERSION | |
| git checkout -- Library/Formula/FORMULA.rb # reset formula | |
| ## Example: Using Subversion 1.6.17 | |
| # |
| #! /bin/bash | |
| ### BEGIN INIT INFO | |
| # Provides: unicorn | |
| # Required-Start: $local_fs $remote_fs $network $syslog | |
| # Required-Stop: $local_fs $remote_fs $network $syslog | |
| # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5 | |
| # Default-Stop: 0 1 6 | |
| # Short-Description: starts the unicorn web server | |
| # Description: starts unicorn |
