What is a Code of Conduct?
Why should my event have one? What should I choose to only attend events with one?
What are some good examples of Codes of Conduct?
But words on paper won't stop people from being jerks!
It's their own fault if they don't report incidents, though.
Isn't this censorship? What about free speech? Isn't this just political correctness run amok?
But if I suddenly put up a Code of Conduct people will think that we've had incidents and won't feel safe!
All of the people attending the event are my friends, I trust that they will act well. Our event is focused on communication, respect, and passion. Isn't it obvious and common sense what is acceptable? We're all adults here.
I've done things in the past that would have gotten me kicked out of conferences if they had this Code of Conduct! Important people in our community wouldn't be able to attend our event!
Why wouldn't you just call the cops? Isn't this why we have laws? |
