I really love using Mendeley.
I feel like knowing about it before my classmates has given me an edge.
Especially when collaborating with others.
(the shared collection thing is awesome. Is there going to be some kind of copyright issue in the future?)
Since it's in beta, I thought now would be a good time to make suggestions:
- Native Mac Client (Mendeley is very slow on recent hardware)
- The red button at the top left is for hiding the window, not closing the program.
- Add Drag and Drop import at the dock.
- The PDF Viewer
- Hey, preview is already a great PDF viewer. Why replace it?
- At least make it possible to set "open externally" as the default.
- Spacebar should page-down.
- Quit bugging me when I'm not connected to the internet. I know I'm not connected to the dang internet!
- I don't know if this is a Mac-only issue but it would be nice to take an existing collection and share it.
- A decent icon
All that and we're set for life!
Hey audyyy, one of the Mendeley designers here. We've got a shiny new icon, splash screen, and install screen in the upcoming release. Hope you like it :)
As DrGunn says, the team is well aware of most of the issues you've described and we're all continuously pushing to make the app better and address the feedback our users have. We always appreciate polite, well written suggestions :) Thanks.
