Gravy is my dad's recipe

Biscuits is my mom's

this makes enough for feed a family of 7 with leftovers.

1 lb ground sausage (Aldi's, Bob Evans or Jimmy Deans in good. Krogers is too fatty and cooks down to nothing.) 1 small onion - chopped fine 3-4 cloves garlic 1 c flour 6 c milk

Brown the sausage, onion and garlic. (Cook it long enough that it gets really brown- medium heat) (If you don't have a garlic press just chop it up fine) If you've got good sausage, you won't need to drain off any grease. If there is a lot of grease take some off. Sprinkle the flour on top of the sausage and stir around. Pour milk over this and stir. Cook over medium heat stirring often so it doesn't stick. It will begin to boil and it will gradually thicken. You can turn in down as it thickens. Keep stirring so it doesn't stick.

Baking Powder Biscuits

6 c flour 3 Tablespoons baking powder 1 tsp salt 3/4 c shortening 2 1/4 c milk

Stir all dry ingredients together in a bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry cutter. (until the shortening is in really small pieces) Add milk stirring with a fork until all flour is moistened. Turn out onto lightly floured pastry cloth (or a clean counter coated with flour works too) Pat to 3/4" thickness. Cut with overturned glass (or a cookie cutter). Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 18 biscuits.

You'll want to start the biscuits as soon as you start the sausage. It's probably best to have the biscuits in the oven before you add the flour and milk to the sausage.
