I found a simpler way (no need to process InstanceProfileArn to get the role name):

role_name=$( curl -s http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/ )
curl -s http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/${role_name}
