sudo pacman -S ruby ruby-rdoc gcc make | |
gem update --user-install | |
gem install jekyll --user-install | |
# finally add $HOME/.gem/ruby/2.7.0/bin to your PATH variable |

as of version 3.0.0 gem's folder is now under
~/.local/share/gem
and to add jekyll to path you use this command (replace the version with your version)
export PATH=$HOME/.local/share/gem/ruby/3.0.0/bin:$PATH
