This guide will walk you through the process of launching your Hydrogen storefront on Shopify. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition and a successful launch.
Ensure that the domain associated with your transactional emails and notifications, found in /admin/settings/notifications
, correctly points to the associated domain of your Hydrogen storefront. This ensures that customers receive accurate information in their email notifications.
Add your preferred vanity domain inside of /admin/settings/domains
by following the instructions on that page. This will ensure that your Hydrogen storefront is accessible through your desired domain.
Configure the checkout URL (primary domain for Online Store) in /admin/settings/domains
. It should be the same hostname as your Hydrogen storefront (e.g., www.brand.com
). We suggest using the subdomain checkout
(e.g., checkout.brand.com
). Cookies should be stored on the apex domain (e.g., brand.com
).
If you are using Shopify Scripts, you may need to unpublish and republish any Shopify Scripts and ensure they're available to the Storefront API. This ensures that your custom scripts continue to work with your Hydrogen storefront.
If you no longer plan on using the Online Store for anything, set up redirects in theme.liquid
. You can refer to this theme for what to add, or just download it and use it: https://github.com/shopify/hydrogen-redirect-theme, or by following the docs here: https://shopify.dev/docs/custom-storefronts/oxygen/migrate/redirect-traffic.
If you plan on launching your Hydrogen site incrementally, meaning moving over pages to Hydrogen as you go while continuing to use your Liquid Online Store for some pages, please refer to the guide here: https://shopify.dev/docs/custom-storefronts/oxygen/migrate/incremental.
If you are using Facebook & Google apps for your product feeds for advertising, you'll need to update those catalogs to match the new domain. This can be done by either using a third-party tool instead of the standard Facebook and Google sales channels, or by setting up feed rules (Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1206652516201625?id=725943027795860 — Google here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en).
Publish your Hydrogen storefront by changing your preferred vanity domain to point to it in the /admin/settings/domains
page. This will make your Hydrogen storefront live and accessible to customers.
By following these steps, you can successfully launch your Hydrogen storefront and provide a seamless experience for your customers.
