Better Spelling for Adults is a spelling practice app available on iOS, Android, macOS, and the web. Your privacy matters, and this app is designed to keep your data under your control. Here's exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your information.

Data Stored on Your Device

All of your progress and preferences — including known words, mastered words, your practice bank, and settings — are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences (or equivalent local storage on web). This data is never uploaded to any server.

If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information will be lost.

Data Sent to Our Server

When you add custom words, the app sends those words to our server to generate context sentences for your practice sessions.

What is sent: Only the words you submit.
What is NOT sent: No personal information, no device identifiers, no usage data — just the words themselves.

This is the only network communication the app initiates (aside from in-app purchases, described below).

Text-to-Speech

The app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine to read words aloud. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

In-App Purchases

The app offers a single non-consumable in-app purchase for premium features. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play Store). We do not receive, process, or store any payment or billing information.

What We Don't Do

No user accounts or login — there is nothing to sign up for.
No analytics or tracking — we don't collect usage statistics.
No advertising — there are no ads in the app.
No cookies — the web version does not use cookies.
No data sharing with third parties — apart from the word list sent for sentence generation and payment processing handled by Apple/Google, no data leaves your device.

Children's Privacy

This app is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Since we don't collect contact information, we have no way to notify you directly — so please check back occasionally.

By downloading, installing, or using Better Spelling for Adults ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

Better Spelling for Adults is a spelling practice application available on iOS, Android, macOS, and the web. It helps users improve their spelling through interactive practice sessions, text-to-speech pronunciation, and context sentences.

3. Use of the App

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial spelling practice. You agree not to:

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws.
Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or its supporting infrastructure.

4. User Data and Privacy

5. Custom Words and Sentence Generation

When you add custom words, those words are sent to our server to generate context sentences. By submitting custom words, you acknowledge that:

6. In-App Purchases

The App offers a single non-consumable in-app purchase for premium features. All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective terms and refund policies.

7. Intellectual Property

The App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
The context sentences generated for custom words will be accurate or appropriate.
Your locally stored progress data will persist through device changes, OS updates, or app reinstallation.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Benjamin Kaiser shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data stored on your device.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
