1607 James Brumfield (a boy of 17) came with Capt. John Smith to Jamestown.
1635-45 Richard Buck emigrated with Gates in 1610. His widow married John
Burrows, then John Bromfield, on of Bridget (Buck, Burrows) Brumfield's
daughters married Sgt. Crumps.
March 1634/55 Mrs. Bridget Brumfield was a guardian of the children of
Richard Buck.
NOTE: Richard Buck was a minister, and married John Rolfe (1614) to
Pocahontas.
March 1654/55 John Bromfield and Elizabeth Crumps for possession of land.
In the case of John Bromfield Pft and the widow Crumps defendant, it
being found that the wife of Richard Buck from whence the land descends
to the orphant, there does not appear and estate past to Bridget Brum-
field, late wife of John Burrows, otherwise than for terms of life only:
Elizabeth Crumps continues possession.
March 1656 John Bromfield patented 650A. on southeast side of Chickahominy.
Dec. 1656 John Bromfield patented 1200 A. near the head of Archers Hope
Creek.
March 1658 John Bromfield patented 100A. on southside of Chickahominy Creek.
1665 Thomas Bromfield imigrated to James City Co.-John Lange.
1658 John Bromfield served on a jury to convict a slave of killing his
master. York Co.
Aug. 25, 1662 Thomas Bromfield served on a jury in York Co.
1665 Thomas Bromfield will in York Co. (VA Wills & Order) Left items to
his wife Mary; dau. Anna; and his brother John Bromfield, Probated Oct. 22,1665

1677-1679 John Bromfield was Court Clerk, Isle of Wight Co.

1702 John Bromfield's estate had been proved in Isle of Wight prior to 1702,
Anne Brumfield rec'd. more than her share from her father's estate.

1736 Robert Mosby and John Brumfield processioned the lands of Wm. Brittain
(Vestry Book of St. Johns Church).
1737 Joseph Bromfield preached for three months.
1744 Christopher Bromfield witnessed division of land in James City Co. on
Chickahominy.
1749 Wm. Brumfield were titheables in Lundenburg Co. (Caldwell's list).

1776 A petition of officers and men of Amelia Co. to put overseers in
uniform was signed by Major Brumfield (Note: "Major" was his given
name, not a title).
NOTE: Most of the above was from York Co. Records.
1739 March 21 James Brumfield of Amelia Co. bought from Hans Hendrick also
of Amelia 200 acres patented by Hans HEndrick June 16, 1738.

1745 Nov. 22 James Brumfield of Rawley Parish Co. of Amelia sold to Charlie
Johnson of Hanover Co. St. Paul's Parish 190 acres in Amelia which was
part of patent to James Brumfield whereon Wm. Brumfield (son of James
now lives) lying between Saylor's Creek of the branches of Dawson's
Creek on both sides of the road. Eliz. the wife of James relinquishes

a slit in the left ear and a swallow fork and underkiel in the

1769 Oct. 26 Major Brumfield and Ann his wife of the county of Amelia
sold to Wm. Jones of the same county 200 acres in Amelia Co. on
the north side of Flatt Creek joining the land of Hans Hendrick.

(NOTE: I doubt very much that the one who copied this data can say
truthfully Ann could not write because a person was not allowed to
sign their names unless they had their own quill at the time of a
signing. You were never permitted to use amother's quill so I
suspect this may have been the case here. Note by Blanford Towler
Anderson.-A wonderful geneologist told me this who devoted a long
period of time to geneology.)
1769 Dec. 26 Major Brumfield and his wife Ann presented deed between
himself and Wm. Jones for recording. Elizabeth relinquished a

a deed endorsed unto Charles Johnson which is ordered to be
recorded. Elizabeth the wife of the said James being first
privately examined and voluntarily assenting thereto

said deed.
1749 Dec. 28 James Brumfield of Amelia Co., Rawley Parish sold to
Thomas Renolds of the same County and Parish 190 acres on Saylor's
Creek in Amelia Co. Nottaway Parish between the branches of Dawson
