Easily setup an Android development environment on a Mac

Here is a high level overview for what you need to do to get most of an Android environment setup and maintained.

Prerequisites (for Homebrew at a minimum, lots of other tools need these too):

  • XCode is installed (via the App Store)
  • XCode command line tools are installed (xcode-select --install will prompt up a dialog)
  • Java

Install Homebrew:

ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/go/install)"

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Problem

When the directory structure of your Node.js application (not library!) has some depth, you end up with a lot of annoying relative paths in your require calls like:

const Article = require('../../../../app/models/article');

Those suck for maintenance and they're ugly.

Possible solutions

ng-really? An AngularJS directive that creates a confirmation dialog for an action.
/**
* A generic confirmation for risky actions.
* Usage: Add attributes: ng-really-message="Are you sure"? ng-really-click="takeAction()" function
*/
angular.module('app').directive('ngReallyClick', [function() {
return {
restrict: 'A',
link: function(scope, element, attrs) {
element.bind('click', function() {
var message = attrs.ngReallyMessage;
