UPDATE: This issue has been fixed in Sketch 3.3.3. Go download the beta version now, or wait for the final version to be released in a few days.
The following content is kept here for historical reasons :)
We're currently investigating an issue where Sketch stops responding at regular intervals. Judging from our reports, it started about 10 days ago (June 1st) for no apparent reason that we can think of (our last Sketch update was released on May 11st). We have some hypothesis, but we need your help to fix it since we haven't been able to reproduce it on our test machines.
If you need a quick workaround, keep reading :)
Hold Alt › Click Apple Menu › System Information…
When that opens, choose File › Save and save the .spx file on your desktop:
Open Console.app, select All Messages in the left sidebar, and choose File › Save a Copy As…
Open Activity Monitor, and select Sketch:
When Sketch halts, click the gear icon and select Sample Process:
When the operation completes, click the Save… button and save the report:
Where by "what you did" we mean things like:
- adding or removing new hardware
- installing / removing software (specially app updates): we have at least one reported case of a rogue Chrome extension halting the system
- modifying your network (things like installing new network equipment, filtering the traffic, etc)
- running unknown commands on the Terminal (maybe you read this article a few days ago and tried some of those
sudo
commands?)
Take the .spx file from step 1, the .log file from step 2, the .txt file from step 3, and all the info you can think of from step 4, and send them to us via email: [email protected]
Anything you can remember, anything you can tell us, will help us determine what's going on and fix it on a timely manner.
If you bought Sketch from Apple's Mac App Store, try downloading the trial from our site: http://bohemiancoding.com/static/download/sketch.zip
It should pick up the license from your App Store version, and so far we haven't had reports of this issue happening with it.
I also have this bug and it is really annoying.
Will send the report in asap.
Sidenote: Sketch also won't remember that I unchecked the onboarding splash screen. I see it everytime the app launches no matter how often I uncheck it.
