It would be great for our physical health since we are sitting all day. I like how the feedback was integrated in the program right away. Maybe you guys can use Google Calendar to send out when events are happening instead of using the TV. Send a calendar invite to everyone so they know about the event because it is easy to forget at times.

Personal OO projects were far more useful than the assignment itself- most of the cohort struggled through the entire day, and then to actually learn about OOD did the Hospital challenge from the night before.
Medicine Ball chairs would be great for keeping posture during long coding sessions.
It's 10:00 and I'm seeing people from cohorts still cleaning out the fridge and the kitchen... I know things need to be cleaned, but that seems pretty brutal for people that are paying for an education here.
Teacher participation and helpfulness was great this week.
The area feels really hot/stuffy after around noon and later on. It can make coding really harddue to sweat/heat issues.

We need access to a projector/TV/large screen that we can hook a laptop up to and all look at, as well as a quiet space insulated from the rest of the revelry and distractions. Having to break our flow and be separated from whiteboards we need to reference every hour and a half isn't conducive to a good working environment. The Phase 3 area doesn't work because the row layout doesn't lend itself to groups of 4 gathering and there are too many distractions with other groups working (and playing games) in such close proximity.
Also not into the 2:00 standup. Maybe if it was 9:00, but the timing of it isn't great because some people get back from lunch early and then have to interrupt their work after just a few minutes. Maybe if it was just on Wednesdays, too, since we already gather as a whole school every Monday and Friday.
Would love some yoga that doesn't overlap with lunch. It's hard to cram your lunch into 20-30 minutes."

I appreciate the continuous attention and guidance Masha and Julian have given us, to help figure out our team dynamics and set us on the right path as we start on our final projects. They definitely did not let us feel like we are all alone.

Some lectures, like EE, should be given in a presenter in middle, or no presenter visible. We could sit in a circle and Brick could sit with us and lead the conversation, but the important part is to get us talking with each other. Having a lecturer in front of us allows people to let their thoughts wonder a little bit more.

SF Purple Martins 2015 Phase 2 Lectures, Pairing, Challenges, Breakouts Agree Teachers, Mentors Agree Strongly Agree appropriately just outside my comfort zone Strongly Agree Strongly Agree No FALSE Rarely TRUE FALSE Disagree 30 "Not a fan of the 2:00 daily all-school. I think immediate announcements could be sent over email and the time spent doing shoutouts, jokes etc. feels a bit like a waste of time. If the meeting takes 10 minutes, that's almost an hour wasted for the whole week. It makes me feel like I should reduce my lunch hour. Doing the meeting everyday feels excessive, maybe twice a week or something would be more appropriate?
Also, it's effing cold up in this place. If we're trying to make this a livable environment, especially for women, we should abandon the archaic and sexist A/C conventions (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/04/science/chilly-at-work-a-decades-old-formula-may-be-to-blame.html). San Francisco is not a hot city, and I can't feel guilty about not composting stuff when we're wasting all this energy needlessly on A/C. I understand that it may not be DBC setting the temperature and that it's building-wide, but maybe this feedback can be shared with the building management then?
I think our cohort is being called out a lot for being quiet, and I really do agree that people need to speak up more. Our cohort has a lot of introverts, and we have had discussions as a group about ways to encourage people to speak up but it seems unfair for the people who do speak up to repeatedly hear this criticism and wonder if they aren't speaking up enough. Maybe there needs to be more clarification about this.
Otherwise, everything's great! I love DBC and everyone in it!

I believe our cohort is introverted above a typical standard deviation, and I understand the tension that creates between teacher/student. I personally 'shut-off' when participation is forced or coerced; however, I understand the benefits of group participation.

-
Sherif has been preaching less, so that's been nice, although there's room for improvement. He tends to target the quiet people, and some of these people are worried this might affect the decision as to whether to pass them. Some people are quiet simply because they're shy, or because they'd like to explore certain concepts on their own before asking questions.
-
The 2:00PM all-school thing is annoying, and we'd love for it to stop immediately.
-
It would also be nice if you could change the A/C settings so that the place is warmer. This actually is a big deal."
