On the Microfreak:
- Press the Utility button
- Go to Sync
- Source: Auto
- Clock: 24PPQ
- Global Tempo: off
- Go to Sync
This makes Bitwig control the Microfreak's tempo, not the other way around.
At this point, you can test by playing an arpeggio, pressing hold on the Microfreak, and then changing the tempo of the session in Bitwig. It should slow down and speed up your arpeggio.
Go to Bitwig Settings -> Controllers and add a generic MIDI keyboard, set the input to Arturia Microfreak
On a MIDI track, create a HW Instrument, set the input as Arturia Microfreak, Ch 1
Then you can start adding CC modulators, effects, whatever.
When you want to save it, highlight everything, press CMD + G
Then right click on Instrument Layer and select Save Preset to Library.
You should now be able to write and record MIDI to Bitwig, manipulate it, and have the Microfreak play it back as you're editing.
