The original source come from a table in PDF form. Note that I only took data from 1939 onward. Years prior to 1939 have occasional gaps, so I excluded them. I also added the inflation-adjusted price per pound.
Additionally, here are some notes from the original source:
- Last Updated 2/18/2014
- 2013 data are preliminary
- The 2002 & 2003 landings may possibly reflect the increased effort by DMR to collect voluntary landings from some lobster dealers; caution is advised when comparing these numbers to previous years. Lobster reporting became mandatory in 2004 for all Maine dealers buying directly from harvesters, so caution is advised when comparing these landings to previous years.
- 1981-1995 traps are calculated by estimate of active boats and estimate of mean traps per harvester
- 1996-2012 traps are taken from number of trap tags sold
- Number of license holders include only commercial licenses that can hold traps [You can also get a recreational license that allows you to have up to five traps for lobsters, but you cannot sell anything you catch -BS]
