Vessel Tracker ("the app") is provided by Wise Apps. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
The app can be used with built-in demonstration data without creating an account. If you enable the live AIS feed, you may enter an AIS Hub username. That username is stored only in the app's private preferences on your device and is sent to AIS Hub when the app requests vessel or receiving-station data. Wise Apps does not operate AIS Hub and does not receive or store your AIS Hub username on its own servers.
The geographic bounds and freshness settings you choose are also stored locally on your device. Vessel positions shown by the app come from AIS Hub or the built-in demonstration dataset; they are not your device's location.
The app uses internet access to retrieve map tiles and AIS data. It does not request access to your device's location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or advertising identifier.
The app uses the following services:
- Mapbox provides the interactive map. Its SDK may process technical and usage information such as IP address, randomly generated identifiers, device and app information, and map requests to provide, secure, measure, and improve its service. The Mapbox attribution control provides access to its telemetry information and opt-out controls.
- AIS Hub provides live AIS vessel and receiving-station data when you choose to connect an AIS Hub account. Requests include your AIS Hub username and the query settings needed to return the requested data.
These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Wise Apps does not sell personal information. Information is transmitted only to the service providers described above as needed to provide the app's map and optional live-data features, or when required by law.
Wise Apps does not maintain an app-user database. Locally stored settings remain on your device until you change them, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. You can remove the stored AIS Hub username from Settings by returning to demonstration mode and clearing the username, or by clearing the app's storage.
The app is a general-purpose vessel information tool and is not directed to children under 13. Wise Apps does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Network requests use HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but the app limits stored information to the settings needed for its functionality.
This policy may be updated when the app or its service providers change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
