Wireguard on Linux 5.0.0-23-generic (for Free5GC)

So you're using free5gc (hence stuck on linux 5.0.0-23-generic) and want to use wireguard VPN.

tl;dr you need wireguard-linux-compat tag v1.0.20200520

git clone https://git.zx2c4.com/wireguard-linux-compat
cd wireguard-linux-compat
git checkout v1.0.20200520
cd ..
make -C wireguard-linux-compat/src -j$(nproc)
make -C wireguard-linux-compat/src -j$(nproc) install

Getting started with Linux kernel development

Getting started with Linux kernel development

Prerequisites

The Linux kernel is written in C, so you should have at least a basic understanding of C before diving into kernel work. You don't need expert level C knowledge, since you can always pick some things up underway, but it certainly helps to know the language and to have written some userspace C programs already.

It will also help to be a Linux user. If you have never used Linux before, it's probably a good idea to download a distro and get comfortable with it before you start doing kernel work.

Lastly, knowing git is not actually required, but can really help you (since you can dig through changelogs and search for information you'll need). At a minimum you should probably be able to clone the git repository to a local directory.

# Generate a new pgp key: (better to use gpg2 instead of gpg in all below commands)
gpg --gen-key
# maybe you need some random work in your OS to generate a key. so run this command: `find ./* /home/username -type d | xargs grep some_random_string > /dev/null`
# check current keys:
gpg --list-secret-keys --keyid-format LONG
# See your gpg public key:
gpg --armor --export YOUR_KEY_ID
# YOUR_KEY_ID is the hash in front of `sec` in previous command. (for example sec 4096R/234FAA343232333 => key id is: 234FAA343232333)

Export TOTP tokens from Authy

Exporting your 2FA tokens from Authy to transfer them into another 2FA application

IMPORTANT - Update regarding deprecation of Authy desktop apps

Past August 2024, Authy stopped supported the desktop version of their apps:
See Authy is shutting down its desktop app | The 2FA app Authy will only be available on Android and iOS starting in August for details.

And indeed, after a while, Authy changed something in their backend which now prevents the old desktop app from logging in. If you are already logged in, then you are in luck, and you can follow the instructions below to export to tokens.

If you are not logged in anymore, but can find a backup of the necessary files, then restore those files, and re-install Authy 2.2.3 following the instructions below, and it should work as expected.

how to install gitea in Ubuntu/Debian.

Gitea

Gitea is a painless self-hosted Git service. It is similar to GitHub, Bitbucket or Gitlab. The initial development have been done on Gogs but we have forked it and named it Gitea. If you want to read more about the reasons why we have done that please read this blog post.

Run Gitea service

Download Gitea binary from download page first.

$ wget https://dl.gitea.io/gitea/1.1.0/gitea-1.1.0-linux-amd64 -O gitea

GitHub Wiki How-To

How do I clone a GitHub wiki?

Any GitHub wiki can be cloned by appending wiki.git to the repo url, so the clone url for the repo https://myorg/myrepo/ is: [email protected]:myorg/myrepo.wiki.git (for ssh) or https://github.com/my/myrepo.wiki.git (for https).

You make edits, and commit and push your changes, like any normal repo. This wiki repo is distinct from any clone of the project repo (the repo without wiki.get appended).
