it's a peer-to-peer encrypted data/document exchange and keyserver
sort of like a combination of sftp, git, dropbox, pgp, and megaupload
it's host-your-own or use a hosted storage server, so we could sell storage accounts to people as a business model, or sell support
the use cases would range from secure decentralized cloud storage, to instant messaging, to "wikileaks" style dropbox, to remote backup service
it could also be a new decentralized form of twitter
and it would leverage public and private keys people already have on their computers for SSH
i'm still working out the details and implementation strategy, evaluating competitors
but the stage is set for this type of p2p database to pop up, in light of NSA snooping
as far as i found no one's done it in node yet
i've also been working out a way to "license" access to data, and share it with a group, like we've been needing for password management at TE
ideally the system can manage licenses to data without sacrificing deniability
that part will be tricky though

that sounds pretty good - super useful
and already a ton of people with what you said NSA snooping
would want to use something like this

there's already a movement towards "security by default", i.e. everything is secure so there can be no "red flags" for persecuting people who use security
so this would be one way of providing security by default, for the masses
lots of details to work out though, to ensure use cases are addressed
