I hear the BART a comin'
It's rollin' round the bend
And I haven't seen the sunshine
since I don't know when
I'm stuck in San Francisco
and time keeps dragging on
But that train keeps a rollin'
On down to Pleasantone

When I was just a baby
My mother told me, "Son
Don't try to found a startup
Just write code for fun"
But I built an app in Oakland
that had good ROI
And my partners started talking
exit strateg-y

And now there's rich folks hiring
their friends to manage me
Drinking fancy coffee
and talking "meritocracy"
Well, I saw the acquisition
and knew I won't be free
But those people keep the profit
And that's what tortures me

Well if they freed me from this office
If my options would just vest
I bet I'd move to Boise
and never write another test
Far from San Francisco
That's where I want to stay
And I'd leave my greedy bosses
