The biggest improvements here are around convertSampleBufferToFloatArray which could likely use something in Accelerate to make it faster. Second, the reading of the data off the queue is a bit finicky. This is why other examples use AudioToolbox and AudioQueue. Feel free to leave comments here with what you find for others to use!
