Fix corrupted exFAT disk macOS/OSX

exFAT support on macOS seems to have some bugs because my external drives with exFAT formatting will randomly get corrupted.

If Disk Utility is unable to repair, consider trying this:

  1. In Disk Utility, ensure that the drive is not mounted, eject it if it is mounted.
  2. Use diskutil list to find the right drive id.
  3. You want the id under the IDENTIFIER column, it should look like disk1s1
  4. Run sudo fsck_exfat -d <id from above>. eg sudo fsck_exfat -d disk1s3
  5. -d is debug so you'll see all your files output as they're processed.

# Actually doesn't matter WHAT you choose as the epoch, it

Elm Destructuring (or Pattern Matching) cheatsheet

Should be work with 0.18

Destructuring(or pattern matching) is a way used to extract data from a data structure(tuple, list, record) that mirros the construction. Compare to other languages, Elm support much less destructuring but let's see what it got !

Tuple

myTuple = ("A", "B", "C")
myNestedTuple = ("A", "B", "C", ("X", "Y", "Z"))

React shallow render lifecycle breakdown

React introduced shallow rendering in 0.13. This is an excellent feature that I wish was included earlier in React. It aims to solve the problem of unit testing components without going through a real, or jsdom mocked, DOM. I couldn't find any info online about what lifecycle events it actually fires. So I did some testing of my own. To reproduce, put component.js and test.js into a folder and run node test.js.

TLDR; shallow rendering only invokes the following lifecycle hooks (in order):

  1. getDefaultProps
  2. getInitialState
  3. componentWillMount stops here until re-render
  4. componentWillReceiveProps
  5. shouldComponentUpdate
  6. componentWillUpdate
