What I am Looking for in a Job
Things I Like/Want/Need:
- Tech that interests me. Currently, that includes, but is not limited to, AI, Node.js, WebAssembly, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Cloud Native, security, C/C++, Golang, and Rust.
- Remote work. Relocation is not an option. However, I am open to traveling as much as necessary.
- An individual contributor ladder. I would like to move up in the world without becoming a manager.
- Standard benefits such as insurance, 401k, etc.
- Open source. I enjoy working on open source. This is not a requirement though.
- Conferences. I enjoy attending and speaking at conferences. This is not a requirement though.
Things I Don't Like/Want/Need:
- Contracting. I am open to contracting on the side, but not as my primary employment. As someone located in the United States, contracting is a headache when it comes to insurance and taxes.
- Startups. I probably would not work at another startup unless I was a founder.
- LeetCode and whiteboard coding during interviews. I have a substantial amount of open source work on GitHub. If you are still questioning if I know how to code, I am not going to be able to convince you with my poor whiteboard coding skills.
