ESLint Reset - A starter .eslintrc file that resets all rules to off and includes a description of what each rule does. From here, enable the rules that you care about by changing the 0 to a 1 or 2. 1 means warning (will not affect exit code) and 2 means error (will affect exit code).

Quite the irony that this file isn't linter proof, since a json file can't contain comments...

@cotterjd Not all rules can be enabled simultaneously. For example, the stylistic rules are often mutually exclusive. Using a disciplined and consistent approach to whitespace in code is good for readability, but one must still decide which style to follow. For example, you can require a space in certain places, or forbid it. Either has the benefit of consistency, but one cannot follow both.
A better starting point for new code, is perhaps:
This automatically enables all rules relating to errors and best practices. There is also
eslint:all
