One-line detailed logging for Rails 3 (ActiveSupport::Notifications) and later
# Outputs this at warn log level:
# 1.2.3.4 GET /path 200 OK BlahController#action HTML 938.2 (DB 11.8, View 719.7) {params} {optional params from flash[:log]}
#
# Save as config/initializers/oneline_detailed_logging.rb. Consider
# decreasing the log level from "info" to "warn" (in production.rb) so
# the one-line log message replaces the standard request logs.
# override process_action to add 2 things to the payload:
# - remote IP

My ZSH Theme

agnoster.zsh-theme

A ZSH theme optimized for people who use:

  • Solarized
  • Git
  • Unicode-compatible fonts and terminals (I use iTerm2 + Menlo)

For Mac users, I highly recommend iTerm 2 + Solarized Dark

Shows how to generate sitemap with sitemap_generator gem for multilingual site and set rewrite urls in nginx conf.
rewrite ^/sitemap1.xml.gz /sitemaps/$host/sitemap1.xml.gz last;
rewrite ^/sitemap_index.xml.gz /sitemaps/$host/sitemap_index.xml.gz last;
# or
location /sitemap {
# it can be already switched on for globally
# gzip_static on;
rewrite ^/sitemap.xml /sitemaps/$host/sitemap.xml last; # that's will catch .gz files and served as normal static file, but with gzip header

This Rack middleware for Rails3 lets you see a call-trace of the lines of ruby code in your application invoked during a single request. Only code within your app is considered (i.e. in the /app folder). This expands on my previous attempt (https://gist.github.com/3077744). Example of output in comments below.
require 'singleton'
# outputs a colored call-trace graph to the Rails logger of the lines of ruby code
# invoked during a single request.
#
# Example:
#
# 1) Make sure this file is loaded in an initializer
#
# 2) Add the following to your application.rb in Rails3:
