Run Claude on your Slack — 2-minute setup

The official Slack MCP connects Claude Code straight to your workspace. Claude can read channels, search threads, and draft replies for you — no API keys, no glue code.

1. Install the plugin

Inside a Claude Code session:

/plugin install slack

Or from your terminal:

claude plugin install slack

2. Authenticate

The plugin auto-configures the MCP server and opens an OAuth flow. Approve access to your Slack workspace — done. (Your workspace admin must have the Slack MCP integration enabled.)

3. Use it — copy-paste prompts

Once connected, just talk to Claude:

Catch me up on #engineering from the last 24 hours — bullet points.

Find the decision about the launch date in #product and who owns the blocker.

Draft replies to every thread that's waiting on me. Show them before sending.

What it can do

  • Read any channel + thread you have access to
  • Search across your workspace
  • Post / reply (with your go-ahead)
