This Privacy Policy explains how the Brahmi Keyboard Android application ("Brahmi Keyboard", "the App", "we", "us", "our") handles information.
The App is published on Google Play by ratsah/coolirisme (developer of com.ratsah.brahmi). If you have any questions about this policy, please contact ratsah@arrakis.in.
Brahmi Keyboard does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information or anything you type. The App has no network access, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no user accounts. Everything happens entirely on your device.
Brahmi Keyboard is an Android Input Method Editor (IME) - a system keyboard that lets you type in the Brāhmī script. When you select Brahmi Keyboard as your active keyboard, the Android operating system routes your key presses through the App so it can produce the corresponding Brāhmī characters in the text field you are typing into.
This is the same way every Android keyboard works, including Google's own Gboard, Microsoft SwiftKey and Samsung Keyboard.
Brahmi Keyboard does not collect, log, transmit, or share:
- The text you type, draft, or send in any app.
- Passwords, payment details, OTPs, or any content from secure / "no-personalised-learning" fields.
- Contacts, calendars, photos, files, SMS, call logs, location, contacts, microphone audio, or any other content on your device.
- Personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, phone number, IP address, advertising ID, or device identifiers.
- Usage analytics, crash reports, telemetry, diagnostic data or behavioural metrics.
- A list of apps installed on your device.
The App does not transmit any data off your device at any time, because it does not have permission to access the internet (the INTERNET permission is not declared in the App's manifest).
The App stores the following information only on your device, in Android's standard private app storage (SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device:

Per-app private storage is sandboxed by Android - no other app can read it.
You can erase these stored preferences at any time by:
- Going to Settings → Apps → Brahmi Keyboard → Storage → Clear data, or
- Uninstalling the App.
Brahmi Keyboard requests only the permission it must have to function as a system keyboard:
android.permission.BIND_INPUT_METHOD- granted by the Android system itself when you enable the keyboard in Settings → System → Languages & input. This permission is what makes the App eligible to act as a keyboard at all. It is not a permission you can grant or revoke from inside the App.
The App does not request any of the following permissions:

The App contains three user-initiated actions that hand a URL off to another app on your device. None of these actions involves the App making a network request or sharing any information about you:
- "Share app" in the top bar opens Android's standard share sheet with a short message and a link to the App's own Google Play listing (

Brahmi Keyboard does not fetch, load or embed any web content itself, does not receive any information about whether you donate, and does not share any information about you with Ko-fi. Any interaction on Ko-fi's website (including any information Ko-fi or its payment processors may collect if you choose to donate) is governed entirely by Ko-fi's own privacy policy, not by this policy.
All three actions are triggered only when you explicitly tap them, and Brahmi Keyboard still does not hold the INTERNET permission.
The App does not use any third-party SDK, library or service that processes user data. There are no analytics providers, advertising networks, crash reporters, attribution services, push-notification services, or backend servers involved in any way.
The App's only runtime dependencies are AndroidX libraries supplied by Google as part of the Android platform, used purely for on-device UI rendering.
Like every Android app, Brahmi Keyboard is eligible for Android's system-level Auto Backup for Apps feature, which Google may use to back up app settings to a user's own Google Drive account so they restore correctly on a new device. This is a feature of the Android operating system, controlled entirely by the user's Google account settings, and is not something Brahmi Keyboard accesses, reads, or can opt out of on the user's behalf.
The only data that could be included in such a backup is the locally stored preferences described in Section 3.
You can disable Android Auto Backup for the App at any time via Settings → Google → Backup on your device.
The App is suitable for all ages and is not directed specifically at children under 13. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, it complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR's provisions on children's data, and equivalent regulations worldwide by default.
Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no user-data attack surface to secure. Locally stored preferences are kept in Android's private per-app storage, which is sandboxed by the operating system and inaccessible to other apps.
Because Brahmi Keyboard collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You retain full control of the only data the App stores - the local preferences described in Section 3 - and can clear it at any time using the steps in that section.
