Tried so far:
-
45th Stop N Shop & Poke Bar, 2323 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103.
Notes: Quick friendly service, very good fish, and a tasty combination of ingredients. And they have unagi. The main downside is that you don't get to pick what goes in your bowl (though there are addons like avocado), but their defaults are all things I like anyway. Note that at busy times, there can be a line out the door. Be aware also that the poke service is closed during the 3–5pm window, though the rest of the store is open and has a nice selection of sake, mochi, pocky, ice cream, and other interesting stuff.
-
Pokeworks, 1200 3rd Ave #100, Seattle, WA 98101.
Notes: Although this is a franchise, the quality and service are good. Somewhat unusually among the poke places I've tried, they have hijiki (which I like). Their fish isn't as tasty as some of the others I've tried, but is fresh and clean and has good consistent texture. They have a large selection of sauces, including sriracha aioli and wasabi.
-
Poke Bar, 719 2nd Ave Suite B, Seattle, WA 98104.
Notes: So far the least-expensive of the options I have tried. Quality is good, no problems but nothing outstanding either. A decent selection of ingredients and quick service.
-
Poke Alice 2, 2001 6th Ave #102, Seattle, WA 98121. In the Westin building.
Notes: Some of the best fish of the places I have tried so far, particularly their ahi tuna. I like that they have mango as a topping option, and their greens are consistently fresh, crisp, and clean.
-
FOB Poke Bar, 220 Blanchard St, Seattle, WA 98121. Also has an outpost in Capitol Hill. Recommended by coffee-shop regulars.
Notes: "FOB" is supposed to stand for "fresh off the boat", and although they are not located at the docks their fish was very good, and they have the best greens so far. Their prices are comparable with the other places I have tried, but FOB is noteworthy for fast preparation. The house sauce is tasty, though not spicy. Although I have not tried it yet, I am pleased to note that FOB has unagi.
-
SODO Poké and More, 2420 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134. Discovered by chance while walking to the light rail.
Notes: Good clean fish, and plentiful scoops, and tasty though not top-grade. Veggies and toppings were very fresh and tasty. Service is quick and friendly. House ponzu sauce was flavorful without being overpowering.
