CromoScan ("the app", "we", "us") is a mobile app for tracking your sticker album collection. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, where it goes, and what choices you have.
TL;DR: The app works fully offline. We do not require an account. Your sticker collection never leaves your device. The only data sent off-device is anonymous crash reports and anonymous usage analytics — both can be turned off, and neither contains personal information.
Sticker codes you scan or import. Stored locally on your device using encrypted device storage (MMKV). Never transmitted, never synced, never backed up to any server.
Profile names (optional). If you create named profiles, those names are stored locally on your device only.
No account. CromoScan does not require sign-up, login, email, or any personal identifier.
The app uses your device's camera to read sticker codes via on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit on Android, Apple Vision on iOS).
- Camera frames are processed in real time on your device.
- No images, video, or camera frames are uploaded, transmitted, stored, or shared.
- The recognized text never leaves your device unless you choose to export it (see Section 5).
You can revoke camera access at any time in your device settings; the scan feature will simply stop working.
When the app crashes or hits an unhandled error, we send a crash report to Sentry (a third-party error monitoring service) to diagnose and fix bugs.
What's included:
- Anonymous device info (model, OS version, app version, language, country region)
- Crash stack trace and the screen you were on
- Sentry-assigned anonymous installation ID
What's NOT included:
- Your sticker collection
- Profile names
- Camera frames or recognized codes
- Any personal identifier
Crash reporting is only active in production builds. Sentry's privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
We collect anonymous usage events to understand how the app is used and prioritize improvements. Hosted in the EU (PostHog Cloud EU).
What's collected:
- Anonymous event names (e.g.,
scan_detected,collection_sticker_marked,app_opened) - Anonymous device/app properties (app version, build number, environment, language)
- Counts and timestamps
- A PostHog-assigned anonymous distinct ID (random, regenerated on app reinstall)
What's NOT collected:
- Your full sticker collection (only section prefixes are sent, never the full code)
- Profile names
- Search terms
- Camera frames or images
- Any personal identifier, email, or contact information
- Screen recordings or touch heatmaps
You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy → Analytics. A final analytics_opted_out event is sent once, then no further events are recorded.

When you export your collection (XLSX, PDF, text, clipboard), the file is generated locally on your device. The app does not upload these files anywhere. Where you share them after that — email, messaging apps, cloud storage — is up to you and governed by those services' policies.
The app contains a "Support the developer" button that opens a Buy Me a Coffee donation page in your device's web browser. If you choose to follow that link, your interaction is governed by Buy Me a Coffee's privacy policy (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/privacy-policy). We receive no personal information about who supports the app.
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your precise or coarse location
- Your contacts
- Your photos or media library
- Any persistent personal identifier (advertising ID, device ID)
- Any payment information
CromoScan is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. There is no account creation, no chat, no user-generated content, and no in-app advertising.
- On your device: indefinitely, until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Crash reports (Sentry): retained according to Sentry's default retention (90 days).
- Analytics events (PostHog): retained for analysis as long as needed; you can opt out at any time and we will not collect new events from your device.
Because we do not collect personal information, we cannot identify any individual user. However:
- You can opt out of analytics in Settings.
- You can revoke camera permission in your device settings.
- You can delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
- For any questions, contact us at the email below.
If we change this policy materially, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify users in the app's release notes.
