How to disable auto-save in phpstorm
How to disable auto-save:
Go to File > Settings (Ctrl+Alt+S).
Go to Appearance & Behavior > System Settings.
Make sure the two are unchecked:
Save files on frame deactivation
Save files automatically if application is idle for x sec.
Go to Editor > General > Editor Tabs
Put a checkmark on "Mark modified files with asterisk"
(Optional but recommended) Under "Tab Closing Policy", select "Close non-modified files first". You may also want to increase the number of allowed tabs.
Click Apply > OK.
That's it.

Thanks for this, but also a notice: There is absolutely no warning when you close an unsaved file. So it is either unintented changes with autosave enabled, or unintented loss of changes with autosave disabled, due missing "Save changed file?" dialog

I think autosave feature is bad becouse if you get used to auto save then you forget to save in other editors. Thanks.

Auto-save is bad because of CAT ON KEYBOARD. After 2 months I was beginning to think I was being too rigid about JetBrains auto-save feature and maybe it wasn't so bad after all. I stepped away for a minute and came back to CAT ON KEYBOARD. And all the cat's changes were saving automatically.
