The Disc Golf Podcast Slack Sack Challenge Rules

The DGP #sackchallenge

The Sack Challenge is a simple challenge to really learn your molds and gain consistency, along with maybe a little bit of money saving. (But who are we kidding, you will still buy plastic)

This will run in a quarterly cycle of 1 month to modify and adjust your back, and 2 months of lockin. We started in October being our change month, and November/December being lock months. The next open period is January, and the next lock is February/March.

Open Bag Month Lock-in Months
January February, March
April May, June
July August, September
October November, December

You can join any time, but if we are near the end of a lock-in month, no need to lock your bag until the next cycle.

Below are a few simple rules and clarifications for the challenge.

Rules

  1. Once you pick your molds and bag, you are not allowed to introduce new molds into your bag, ideally.
  2. You are allowed to remove a mold that is not working for you, but without replacing it.
    • You are allowed to bring back that mold if you change your mind later.
  3. You may have as many variations of a mold as you like (plastics, weights, runs). We only lock the mold itself.
  4. There is one exception to rule #2, if you absolutely have to change a mold, you get 1 free replacement.
    • This is mainly because as you grow with your bag, you might find a different disc must be in your bag.
    • Ideally try to keep this swap to the 2nd month, unless there is a disc that needs emergency swapping.
    • If you make a second replacement, and live in Colorado, you need to wear an Ella from Frozen costume for an entire round.
  5. Field work is not part of the challenge. You may throw any molds you wish during field work. Ideally you stick to your bag, but if you want to try new things, field work is the place to do it.
  6. Last but not least, if you are not having fun because of the molds in your bag, just change them. The important thing is to have fun while improving, so if you find you want to jettison your bag or just replace a bunch of molds not working for you. feel free to do so. The goal is to learn your molds and grow to be consistent with them, but still having fun.
