Scrapy - delay requests in spider callbacks

I know it's outdated, by why not use download_delay attribute?

class MySpider(BaseSpider):

    name = 'wikipedia'
    download_delay = 5

Or you can just set DOWNLOAD_DELAY = 5 in settings.py
