- 01 [6.16-106.22] INTERVIEWER: Hello. Hi, is this Lloyd? Yes. Hi, Lloyd. My name is Parg Patel. I'm calling from Cargo Health. We received an application from you to join our team as a medical courier. Hey, how you doing, buddy? Hey, doing okay. Is this now a good time to quickly chat? Yeah, I got a few minutes. Yeah, cool. So, I just wanted to have a short first-round call to get to know you, go over the basics, and see if I'd be a good fit on both sides. I noticed that you have prior experience with USPAC and Associated Courier. Can you let me know how much you know about Cargo Health? Not much. I actually just got the email and applied. Email from BB Driver? Yeah. Okay, cool. So, we're strictly a medical courier company. As a medical courier, we work with hospitals, labs, pharmacies, delivering specimen medication, blood packages, etc. We operate 24-7-365. We have our own driver app. The idea is for our drivers to provide some availability and effectively just go online and indicate that they're ready to take on orders. I'm happy to kind of give you a little bit more of a background, but just wanted to get a little bit more understanding of why you applied, what are you doing currently for work right now, and kind of how do you see yourself going forward?
- 02 [112.06-128.04] CANDIDATE: Sorry, I think you're breaking up a little bit. Now I can. That's correct.
- 03 [129.10-182.68] INTERVIEWER: Yeah, so it's a hybrid Uber model. So yeah, we have an app. Once you're kind of checked in, our clients see where you are. They'll place orders based off of your location, or if we have other orders, our team will assign you those orders. That's number one. Number two is the kind of biggest difference. We are looking for 1099 contractors, but we are obviously not the size of Uber, where Uber allows anyone with their app, at least in New York City with the TLC plate, check in and check out at any given moment. What we look for in our drivers are some kind of commitment of availability, so that way we can kind of be able to provide drivers with valid work on a daily basis.
- 04 [183.50-201.66] CANDIDATE: Okay. So currently I am still employed by USPAC and Associated. I work for two couriers right now. I work for both companies. I'll tell you right now, my day starts at 6 a.m. and ends at about 1 a.m.
- 05 [202.44-203.56] INTERVIEWER: 1 a.m.?
- 06 [204.02-204.50] CANDIDATE: Yes.
- 07 [205.06-207.54] INTERVIEWER: On a daily basis? That's a lot, no?
- 08 [208.96-210.22] CANDIDATE: Monday to Saturday.
- 09 [210.22-211.46] INTERVIEWER: Okay.
- 10 [212.22-215.26] CANDIDATE: I'm hungry and eager to work.
- 11 [216.52-216.60] INTERVIEWER: Okay.
- 12 [219.70-247.64] CANDIDATE: I'm dedicated. I don't take personal days. I don't take holidays. I don't take sick days. Unless it's like a family emergency, I'll probably take a vacation once a year. But otherwise, I am dedicated to whoever I work for. I've had no issues or complaints within the past three years of me doing medical courier. I am pretty familiar with how the systems work in pharmacies and hospitals.
- 13 [252.54-254.46] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Can you hear me?
- 14 [254.46-260.92] CANDIDATE: Yes. I'm listening. Yes. So I'm willing to give it a shot.
- 15 [260.92-270.40] INTERVIEWER: Okay. So can you let me know why you're looking for another opportunity if you're already committed to working 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.?
- 16 [270.94-288.08] CANDIDATE: Well, I had a problem recently with USPAC. And it wasn't a problem on my end. It was a problem on their end. So they basically just gave us like a 75% pay cut, which is a significant pay cut.
- 17 [290.44-300.96] INTERVIEWER: Okay. And what type of work are you doing with USPAC? Is it more pharmacy work, hospital work, blood sample work?
- 18 [303.42-304.10] CANDIDATE: Pharmacy.
- 19 [305.06-305.40] INTERVIEWER: Pharmacy.
- 20 [305.40-309.02] CANDIDATE: I'm not sure if you're familiar with Omnicare Health.
- 21 [309.32-310.26] INTERVIEWER: They're? Yep.
- 22 [311.20-316.22] CANDIDATE: Yeah. So they're under Omnicare Health, and they just deliver to patient homes.
- 23 [316.22-323.46] INTERVIEWER: Yep. Sure. Understood. And then you mentioned that you also are working with Associated Courier. What is that kind of commitment?
- 24 [324.96-332.68] CANDIDATE: Well, USPAC is a little more – they're more like delivering like IVs and cancer medications and stuff like that.
- 25 [332.74-333.42] INTERVIEWER: Sure.
- 26 [335.10-337.10] CANDIDATE: Associated would just be like regular prescriptions.
- 27 [338.36-338.80] INTERVIEWER: Mm-hmm.
- 28 [338.80-349.62] CANDIDATE: So it's just like pharmacy to home. But they're route-based. Associated is route-based, whereas like on a daily basis, I basically go to the same places every day.
- 29 [350.48-353.62] INTERVIEWER: Yep. Okay. Makes sense. And?
- 30 [355.12-360.84] CANDIDATE: Omnicare, they do have – they're repeating customers, but it's not like the same thing every day.
- 31 [362.04-362.58] INTERVIEWER: Sure.
- 32 [363.80-364.34] CANDIDATE: Yeah.
- 33 [364.34-374.16] INTERVIEWER: Okay. So it sounds like 100% of your work that you're doing on a daily basis is medication delivery. Correct? Is that fair to say?
- 34 [374.44-374.58] CANDIDATE: Yeah.
- 35 [375.18-387.34] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Understood. And what are you expecting to pay – to earn on a gross income side on a daily basis or a weekly basis?
- 36 [388.64-392.92] CANDIDATE: On a weekly basis, I'm looking anywhere for like around $1,000 a week.
- 37 [392.92-402.06] INTERVIEWER: Okay. And just to confirm, did I hear that correctly in the beginning, 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.?
- 38 [402.44-403.26] CANDIDATE: Yes, sir.
- 39 [403.60-408.18] INTERVIEWER: And you're delivering medication that late at night to patients' homes?
- 40 [410.48-419.24] CANDIDATE: Well, Associated, it's not only patient homes. It's also like these – what do you call them – these care homes.
- 41 [420.86-425.28] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Sure. Fine. Nursing homes and similar, too.
- 42 [426.12-433.66] CANDIDATE: Yeah. It's a private home. It's where it's like they'll have like five to six patients at that home, and they'll have people taking care of them.
- 43 [433.78-436.66] INTERVIEWER: So those are considered like still 24-hour facilities.
- 44 [437.58-438.00] CANDIDATE: Yep.
- 45 [439.20-442.18] INTERVIEWER: Yep. And how many miles are you driving?
- 46 [444.90-453.12] CANDIDATE: So I'm doing anywhere from around 300 miles a day.
- 47 [453.64-461.60] INTERVIEWER: You're making roughly $200 for 300 miles working these many hours. Is that fair to say?
- 48 [463.24-463.72] CANDIDATE: No.
- 49 [465.82-466.20] INTERVIEWER: Okay.
- 50 [466.20-473.68] CANDIDATE: I am making – I would say $200 for about 150 miles.
- 51 [476.28-480.30] INTERVIEWER: Okay. But you mentioned you are driving 300 miles?
- 52 [481.36-488.36] CANDIDATE: Yes, but like I said, I'm working two different companies, so I'm making about 200 from each company, one in the morning, one in the afternoon.
- 53 [489.50-496.46] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Understood. So 400 over 300 miles.
- 54 [497.76-498.60] CANDIDATE: Yep.
- 55 [498.82-523.40] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Understood. So, yeah, we do more than only pharmacy work. We do on-demand, you know, pickups and deliveries of blood samples. We work with a blood bank that is also based out of Westbury, which was kind of one of the bigger reasons why I wanted to reach out to you.
- 56 [524.34-527.18] CANDIDATE: It's actually beautiful because that is right next to my house.
- 57 [527.62-531.02] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Sure. And why aren't you working there then?
- 58 [532.36-541.12] CANDIDATE: Because I have no idea where that is. I don't know. It's the same cargo house?
- 59 [544.02-545.82] INTERVIEWER: Sorry, what do you mean the same cargo house?
- 60 [547.02-549.30] CANDIDATE: Well, you said the place that's in Westbury, right?
- 61 [551.04-552.38] INTERVIEWER: Sorry, can you say that again?
- 62 [553.92-557.42] CANDIDATE: The place that you're telling me in Westbury, what facility is that?
- 63 [557.58-559.06] INTERVIEWER: It's the New York Blood Center.
- 64 [560.86-570.60] CANDIDATE: I didn't know. I haven't, like, I've never seen them post anything about jobs. I mean, I usually go on like TB Driver or Indeed and whatever comes up, that's what I look at.
- 65 [570.80-872.22] INTERVIEWER: Sure. Okay. No worries. It's one of our clients. They're based in Westbury. So, again, that was the reason why I wanted to reach out to see if it would be a good fit. It's very close to, it's in the same town from where you're based at. Okay, so just wanted to go through a couple of things and then wanted to dig in a little bit more about your background. So, again, how we work is a little bit more of a hybrid approach. Our drivers are 1099 drivers. We look for that availability, something that they can commit to for us during the day. It's our responsibility to make sure all of our drivers are, you know, earning as well. And what we're looking for are, you know, true independent workers, drivers that we won't need to babysit and, you know, with constant communication back and forth, especially with basic information, but always understand that they have the option to reach out to our dispatch team in case they do need help for any of their pickup. So, again, best drivers show up every single day, no excuses, no surprises. We are, one thing that you did mention is four family emergencies that you would ever, you know, take days off. I would kind of take it a little bit further. Even if it's not an emergency or it's a, you know, pretty important family event that's happening, if I hear about it, it's probably not going to have a good conversation with the drivers. I think family is very important, you know. And, you know, one of the reasons why I started this company was, you know, just to, you know, my father was a medical courier and he missed a lot of family events. But, you know, we're trying to build a family culture here. At the end of the day, you know, the more work that, you know, our drivers are doing, the more we can assign them orders, the more orders they're doing, the higher their pay. And, you know, I would say 80% of our drivers have been with us for at least, you know, three years, right? So it kind of shows a little bit of, you know, how the relationship that we have with all of our courier drivers. Second is the ownership aspect of it, following instructions. Again, we have that driver app. You'll be able to get a push notification any time we assign you an order. You'll be able to see the order information, pickup address, instructions, et cetera, and, you know, be on your way to the pickup location. And then once you arrive to the pickup location, follow inputs, right? Depending on the client, depending on the pickup type, it's either, you know, taking pictures, counting the number of specimens you're collecting, you know, asking a staff for their name for proof of delivery, et cetera, right? Putting all these driver inputs for each and every order perfectly. Obviously, act professionally, respectful, courteous, clean. We provide uniforms. And, you know, I think that's really kind of lost in, you know, at least the medical courier industry, at least, you know, to my understanding is smiling and saying hello goes a long way, especially with healthcare workers. A lot of, you know, these workers are stressed and kind of don't really have time at times for couriers, but really at the end of the day we're doing this for the patient, right? Our mission is that we're not delivering just boxes. Our deliveries have real impact in patient care. And then the thing that I kind of alluded to is communicating well and ultimately working independently. We have kind of a two-week training period where we will, you know, it's more like an extended interview, right? If we do move forward, we'll meet up for training, how to use the app, kind of protocols that we follow, you know, that are different than, you know, your other kind of courier companies that you're working for, et cetera. And then over the first couple weeks, we'll always sign orders and ramp you up to how we do things, seeing how the drivers are communicating, the pictures that they're taking, you know, are they following instructions, are they being proactive, reaching out when they need to, et cetera. You know, at the end of the day, I would argue that anyone can do this job, but what differentiates our couriers is really taking it to the next level, right? And, you know, instead of wasting our time constantly going back and forth over call or texting about orders, you know, our drivers, we can assign, you know, especially our senior drivers who have been with us for a while, we just assign orders to them and their heads down and, you know, they're performing, you know, very reliably and reaching out to us only if they do have any questions. And there's some drivers I would argue that we haven't really talked to in the last couple months, right? We just assign them, they show up to work every single day, we assign them orders and their heads down and they're happy, we're happy, everyone wins, the patient wins as well. So I'll just pause here real quick to see if you have any questions.
- 66 [874.04-922.54] CANDIDATE: No questions. I mean, I'm not going to toot my own horn, but I will tell you, I am probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I tend to try to go above and beyond to help people, especially in this field, because, like, we are delivering medication to a lot of sick people, a lot of elderly people. And, you know, I look at, you know, just taking the box from the front door and putting it inside the front door for them, you know, little stuff like that people look at and they're like, you know, thank you so much, you know, so helpful. You know, they don't have to come out in the rain and get a box or, you know, stuff like that. When I changed my route for Associated to a different route, all the nurses that I used to deliver to actually called the pharmacy and requested if they could have me come back because of how courteous and nice I was to them.
- 67 [922.48-924.44] INTERVIEWER: Sure. That's good to hear.
- 68 [924.54-944.30] CANDIDATE: So, I mean, yeah, I am not tooting my own horn, but I'm trying to be the kind of person I am. I mean, you assign me work, I do my work to the best of my ability, as much as how you want it to be done. I try to be as prompt and as professional as possible.
- 69 [945.56-1269.34] INTERVIEWER: Absolutely. No, no, I appreciate you saying that. And, you know, a lot of it is overlooked on exactly what we're doing. You know, we're not delivering food, right? If food goes, a late food delivery, it's not the end of the world. You can put it in the microwave and reheat it, right? For example, if we're delivering a blood package to a hospital that's going to a patient that's actively bleeding out at that moment or for whatever reason, right? If that gets delayed, it's on our shoulders. I, you know, as the owner of this company, I kind of bear all of that responsibility on a day-to-day basis. But at the end of the day, you know, again, just going back and really emphasizing, if our drivers just, you know, follow the instructions, you know, drive reliably, safely, you know, everyone wins. And, you know, if the patient doesn't know about us, I think it's a good thing, right? So that means we did our job successfully. And I tell all my drivers where, you know, we're not ever, you know, always in this situation. Of course, if you're delivering medication to a patient's home, they're able to say thank you. But I will personally say thank you for each and every order to my drivers if they need that. Because we're, you know, what we're doing is a little bit more, you know, we're just one piece of the entire ecosystem. But with that being said, here at Cargo Health, we also do have a, you know, zero-tolerance policy, right? Late once, you know, you're no longer receiving assignments from us. And it's a commitment. There's no second chances. Sometimes these patients don't have second chances. So why should we? And really just focusing on the communication, right? Getting to that goal of being truly independent. We can just assign you orders. You're making money. And we just know that, hey, these 10 orders we don't need to worry about because you're going to be taking care of them, right? So the communication, you know, dispatch calls, texts, following instructions, or if we're still managing you, which I don't really doubt with you given your experience, but if we're still managing you after kind of, you know, a month, really look at it in our perspective, right? We don't want to be constantly, you know, communicating with you back and forth, right? We want to just assign you orders. You know, 99% of the questions are answered on the app when it comes to order information, pickup instructions, et cetera. But then, you know, again, like I mentioned, I really want to focus on is those senior drivers who have been with us for a while that, you know, they put their head down and they seem to be happy. But with that said, right, if you're a reliable, positive, problem-solving person, this can be a very rewarding and high-earning role, right? Our drivers make anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500 a week. And, you know, we have drivers, like I mentioned, that just come in day in and day out, you know, just adding value at the end of the day, right? Our expectations are that you'll check in the app daily, signaling that you're ready to work. You'll be assigned orders, expect to fulfill them without issue, you know, which means just being on time, following those instructions, and delivering successfully without any complaints, right? And, you know, again, just going back to the Uber model versus us is, you know, we'll at times, given that we don't have – we don't like to overhire, right, in the sense that if we overhire, that means it's less work for our full-time drivers. So we want to make sure we have enough work, right? But also on, you know, the driver side is understanding that as well, right, is those times where we'll ask you, hey, you know, I know you're going to start in an hour. You're going to be in an available hour, but I don't have any other driver in your area. You might be the closest one. Anyway, you can start an hour earlier, right? Or, hey, you know, I know you've had – you know, you're kind of finishing up your last order. You're planning on going home. But, again, same thing. Do you mind taking this order? It's on your way home type of situation, right? And, you know, just asking, being able to ask these drivers, right? And just, you know, again, given this time-sensitive nature of the industry that we work in, is just expecting that fast communication back, yes or no, right? And ultimately, you know, the more dependable our drivers are, the more orders we will be able to sign you, right? And the more orders you're being assigned, that means you're, you know, not only showing us that we can trust you doing all these orders, but number two is now you're making more and more money, right? Because you're completing orders successfully and quickly versus a driver that we're babysitting, et cetera, right? And, you know, just to summarize all of this, the last thing I'll say is if you commit to us, we'll take care of you, right? Simple as that. You know, that's why we pay our drivers very good rates. If our drivers keep us happy by putting their head down and, you know, just putting the patient first, successfully fulfilling these orders, we'll make sure to take care of them, right? I have, you know, personal relationships with all of our drivers to an extent, and just, you know, that's why I'm having this call with you, right, as opposed to one of my dispatchers. You know, not only are our drivers representatives of cargo health, but they're representatives of our clients as well. So does this sound like something you want, something you can commit to?
- 70 [1270.82-1279.64] CANDIDATE: Yeah. Now, the only thing I would ask you is can you give me an example of, like, what a typical job would pay?
- 71 [1280.84-1281.56] INTERVIEWER: A typical job?
- 72 [1282.88-1286.38] CANDIDATE: Yeah, let's say I did from, like, that Westbury pickup.
- 73 [1288.50-1291.38] INTERVIEWER: Yeah. Give me an ending location from Westbury.
- 74 [1292.46-1294.72] CANDIDATE: Well, I don't know where it would be going, so you tell me.
- 75 [1294.94-1297.70] INTERVIEWER: Just give me any place. Give me any place.
- 76 [1298.62-1301.16] CANDIDATE: Okay, let's say I have to go from Westbury to, like, Riverhead.
- 77 [1302.00-1338.78] INTERVIEWER: Okay, Westbury to Riverhead. Let me give you kind of the exact number. We actually did an order from Westbury to Riverhead, I think, just yesterday. No, no, no, actually this, yeah, yeah, early this morning at 1 a.m. That pays, how many miles do you think that is?
- 78 [1340.40-1343.74] CANDIDATE: Westbury to Riverhead, I would say. I would say maybe around 45?
- 79 [1344.42-1611.36] INTERVIEWER: Close, yeah, yeah, 50 miles. Our drivers got paid $75 for that, so a little bit over a dollar a mile. At that time, again, it was at 1 a.m. The driver picked up at 12.50, and he delivered that. He had another order as well, so it took him an hour to Riverhead. He delivered at 2.04 a.m. So an hour driving 50 miles for roughly $75. Also, the other thing that we do is, you know, for this example, for this client example, is that sometimes they'll load up two orders, right? So one going to Riverhead and one going to Stony Brook, right? You're still getting paid as if you were going to do two separate trips, effectively, right? For maybe a total of 75 miles of actual driving, right? But we are going to be paying you as if it's one order. There's going to be times where you're waiting for a couple of hours, right? Where, hey, it's a little bit slow right now. You know, our client in Westbury, I'm just referencing this Westbury example, because if we do move forward, that's probably the main client that we would be assigning you to is, you know, wait a couple hours, no orders, no orders, and then boom, boom, boom, right? They're loading up with three orders, and that kind of makes up, you know, for those past two orders, right? And then coming back, right? Sometimes we'll have pickups from those hospitals coming back to Westbury, right? And sometimes not, right? In those cases where you do, we'll assign obviously those orders. You'll pick it up from the hospital, come back to Westbury, or come back empty-handed and then just be ready for the next run, right? We have other clients as well, but I would say Westbury is mostly our, as of now, our most east client, but we do go out into Riverhead, like I mentioned. We do, you know, Southampton Hospital, but we'll also, from Westbury to New Jersey as well, right? Going to a hospital in New Jersey, and that's paying, you know, obviously upwards of $100, et cetera, right? We know, right, so at the end of the day, to summarize how the rates go, is we offer, we pay significantly higher than anyone on the street courier-wise, and we do that to retain the best quality of drivers, right? Again, we have probably two to three openings. I can see three openings right now, but I would say two openings, and I have 100 applicants for those two openings, right? What I'm looking for are those drivers who are not only going to commit, but also look at these packages as patients, number one, and number two, really, you know, not be a little bit more than that kind of, quote-unquote, independent medical courier, right? Knowing that you're part of something bigger, right? Again, you know, if something happens and you need to, you know, get home quick, don't even worry about it, right? Family is number one. Family is priority here. And, you know, we just know that, hey, you know, it's fine. This happens. If there's anything we can do to help in this situation, let us know. Otherwise, we'll wait to hear back from you on when you're ready to go, period, right? So, you know, this all comes with that flexibility, that commitment, that, you know, you would be available for us knowing kind of we can schedule our drivers, right, in the sense that we don't want all of our drivers to be working 9 to 5, right, because then who's working afterwards, et cetera, right? So that's why we kind of get, you know, a preferred commitment, see what we can do, obviously work as much as we can. But at the end of the day, we have kind of certain openings. One opening is kind of the evening hours, I would say 4 to midnight, really around that kind of period, plus-minus two hours, but just at least being available in and around Westbury around those hours, right, knowing that we can reach out to you if it's earlier.
- 80 [1611.98-1612.38] CANDIDATE: I'll commit to that right now.
- 81 [1612.38-1612.82] INTERVIEWER: Sorry?
- 82 [1613.88-1615.24] CANDIDATE: I'll commit to that right now.
- 83 [1616.22-1620.24] INTERVIEWER: Okay, let's take one step back.
- 84 [1623.48-1639.40] CANDIDATE: Yeah, let me tell you. So Associated, I'm trying to break away from Associated because I am driving from Uniondale to Kingston, New York, daily.
- 85 [1639.76-1640.48] INTERVIEWER: Sorry, to where?
- 86 [1641.66-1642.36] CANDIDATE: Kingston, New York.
- 87 [1642.80-1645.30] INTERVIEWER: Okay, that's what, like, up there.
- 88 [1646.68-1666.42] CANDIDATE: Yeah, and I'm doing that daily. I'm trying to, like, break away from that because it is taking a lot of my time, my family time. But, however, I love to work at Insane Breath, so, like I told you, I work from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- 89 [1671.96-1828.58] INTERVIEWER: Yeah, okay, that's good to know. I think, so just going back to kind of the 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., plus or minus an hour, et cetera, right, at least, you know, in that commitment, we know that you're going to be available, right? You'll be checked in in Westbury at 4 p.m., for example, so we can kind of, hey, if it's, like, 3.30 and we have an order coming in, hey, we know that you're coming in at 4 p.m., so we'll wait, you know, we'll hold that order for you, right, et cetera. Or if you're available at 3.30, be like, hey, we just got an order, you know, in Westbury. Can you get on the road right now, right? If not, you just let us know, not right now, but, you know, I'm going to be free in 15 minutes, et cetera, right, just, again, that communication. I think if we were to move forward, I think that is kind of the first off what we would start off with, number one, and then, you know, that extended interview process, right? I want to kind of focus on that really quickly, is as much as experience that you have, as much experience as, you know, every candidate I have has, we do things differently, right? What I was focusing on a little bit earlier is that those policies that we have, right, making sure we're kind of putting these patients first, right, and making sure it works for both of us, right? You're interviewing us in the sense that, hey, you know, are you obviously making the earnings that you want? Number one, how is it, you know, do you like this different type of model where it's like less back and forth with dispatchers, et cetera? Are you, you know, just enjoying your day-to-day with us, right? You're interviewing us in that, and what we're looking for is that communication, is that proactiveness. How are you, you know, taking these pictures? Are you being lazy with it, or you're actually taking perfect pictures, things like that, right? So over a phone conversation, you know, I can say the perfect, you know, the right things that, you know, I want you to hear, and you can do the same that you can say the things that I want to hear. But at the end of the day, we look at this kind of extended interview process to see, like, hey, we'll start you off slow, get you up to speed. It might be a little bit slow for your liking, et cetera, but we want to see kind of how you react to these things, right? And then as you gain trust, as we gain trust in your kind of what you can offer and bring to the table, then you'll see more and more work come your way, right? But don't expect to, you know, because of your experience, et cetera, you know, just be assigned 20 deliveries all at once from day one.
- 90 [1828.58-1832.58] CANDIDATE: No, no, no, I completely understand that.
- 91 [1833.82-1848.32] INTERVIEWER: Okay. So it sounds like you can commit to kind of that, and it sounds like you're potentially open to working longer with us. Is that fair to say?
- 92 [1849.82-1853.56] CANDIDATE: You mean in terms of more hours? More hours on a daily basis?
- 93 [1853.58-1853.82] INTERVIEWER: Yes.
- 94 [1854.82-1855.40] CANDIDATE: Yes.
- 95 [1855.40-1859.46] INTERVIEWER: Okay. And it would be available Monday through Saturday?
- 96 [1860.72-1861.02] CANDIDATE: Yes.
- 97 [1862.00-1864.80] INTERVIEWER: Okay. Okay.
- 98 [1865.94-1868.14] CANDIDATE: I may be available some Sundays.
- 99 [1869.80-1869.98] INTERVIEWER: Okay.
- 100 [1870.72-1875.68] CANDIDATE: Because of how I work here right now, I try to spend some time with my son.
- 101 [1876.24-1919.04] INTERVIEWER: Yeah, again, okay, you said it before I did. I think if you didn't say that, I would say at least, you know, take a mental day. I think a lot of this, especially during traffic and rush hour, it's – a driving job is not as easy as people think, right? Everyone, you know, is a human at the end of the day. They need a reset, things like that, right? So we wouldn't even – if we're ever in a pinch, we'll reach out to you, but, you know, we need some time off as well. And then just last kind of question, how can you – can you handle multitasking while driving, responding to calls, responding to our texts, app notifications, et cetera?
- 102 [1920.12-1920.68] CANDIDATE: Yes, sir.
- 103 [1921.06-1930.32] INTERVIEWER: Okay, great. And last question I'll ask is, you know, just summarize it for me. Why should we choose you over the next candidate? What sets you apart?
- 104 [1934.38-1989.86] CANDIDATE: Well, again, I would say my dependability. I'm prompt. I pay attention to details. I make sure however you lay it out that you want your job done, that's the way I'm going to get it done. I'm not going to try to cut corners. I'm not going to try to do it how I think is faster. If you tell me, hey, this job has to be done A, B, C, D in that order, I'm going to do it A, B, C, D in that order because that's how it needs to be done. That's the procedure that needs to be done to make sure that I'm protecting my end and I'm protecting your end at the same time because I look at the job in this way, is that when I do great, you do great. You'll reward me for doing great with more work, and me doing great also makes the company look good because it shows that these people have a reliable company. It's someone we can go to if we have more that we can go to, and it opens more doors for the company and the driver.
- 105 [1991.12-2070.52] INTERVIEWER: Yes. Yeah. No, I really appreciate the fact that you said if we need you to do it A, B, C, D, you'll do it A, B, C, D. I think sometimes a lot of drivers, they forget or aren't really cognizant of the bigger picture or the reasons why we're doing it. Taking a picture of each sample, for example, or counting the samples or getting a person's name, sometimes it's not very clear immediately on why you're doing that as a driver, but we like to educate the drivers in the sense that, hey, if anything does happen, we can pinpoint it to John Smith that you spoke to at 3.45 p.m. at the office. Or we can pinpoint it to, hey, you're saying you're missing that specimen, a client saying that they're missing that specimen for whatever reason, they reach out to us, and we can say, hey, no, here's a clear picture that that driver has dropped it off to your lab staff at the lab at this time, so it's out of our hands. So if you missed that specimen, unfortunately, we did our job, but that specimen was last found at the lab, so please check the lab. It's not us. So things like that is why we kind of do things A, B, C, D. So I really appreciate you saying that.
- 106 [2070.88-2078.34] CANDIDATE: Yes, because there's a reason things have a procedure, right? And I know a HIPAA violation is no joke.
- 107 [2079.84-2147.84] INTERVIEWER: Yeah, I mean, HIPAA violation is just, that's the next level, right? You're not talking about the patients you're collecting with anyone. No one's riding with you in your car. You know, you're not kind of like going on Twitter saying, hey, I just delivered medication to XYZ person, right? Things like that, for sure, absolutely. I think just day-to-day, those extra 30 seconds it takes you to complete a pickup or complete a delivery on the app correctly can save a lot of potential issues, right? And just going back to like, you know, all of our drivers and expectations, right? We have our own driver app. It asks you clearly what you need to do. So just follow those instructions, right? If you follow those instructions, everyone's going to be happy. Client's going to be happy. We're going to be happy. And, you know, again, that just increases, you know, your reliability. Like, hey, okay, wow, he's doing everything perfectly. So let's start increasing orders to Lloyd, right? So that's kind of how we operate. Okay. Do you have any other questions for me?
- 108 [2149.92-2157.06] CANDIDATE: No. So the only question would be, so the two-week period, the two-week interview is like a trial run, essentially.
- 109 [2158.14-2252.04] INTERVIEWER: So if it is a fit, we'll invite you to the next step, which will be in-person onboarding and training. We'll, again, show you how the app works, get you with the uniform, get you with kind of the basic supplies, a cooler, some specimen bags, etc. And then from there, you'll be able to start taking orders yourself, right? We'll be obviously guiding you as you, you know, start, you know, with new types of clients that, you know, that you're going to for the first time. A lot of it will be your first for you. So, you know, over the first kind of couple weeks, you know, just kind of slowly get you up to speed, right? As long as you're showing to us like, hey, you're, you know, following instructions, we're seeing that you're paying attention to detail, you're communicating, right, the less we're going to need to babysit you, right? That's where the value of our drivers come to us, right? And, you know, we're not trying to rush this process, right? Because like you mentioned, those ABCDs, get it right the first time. So, you know, six months down the line, you know, we're following the same exact protocol, right? Just do that, right, over the first couple weeks. And then as we see you can take on more, we'll give you more. No problem, right? So, that's kind of how we, how that, those two weeks are. It's just really assessing if this is a good fit for both of us, right? And again, like I mentioned earlier, you're also assessing if this is, you know, something you want to pursue long term as well.
- 110 [2252.94-2253.50] CANDIDATE: Okay.
- 111 [2255.84-2287.26] INTERVIEWER: Cool. Yep, so I think we're pretty much good. Yeah, okay, great. So, thank you again for your time. We will be in touch regarding the next steps over, you know, the next few days. We are looking to hire quite soon. Hopefully have some training at some time on Thursday to Friday, so our drivers can start getting on the road. But if you do have any other questions, feel free to reach out.
- 112 [2288.48-2289.80] CANDIDATE: All right, thank you so much.
- 113 [2290.06-2292.16] INTERVIEWER: Okay, appreciate the time, Lloyd. Take care.
- 114 [2292.22-2293.66] CANDIDATE: I look forward to working with you. Have a good day.
- 115 [2293.66-2293.90] INTERVIEWER: Bye.

| "text": "Hello. I'm happy to kind of give you a little bit more of a background, but just wanted to get a little bit more understanding of why you applied, what are you doing currently for work right now, and kind of how do you see yourself going forward?" | |

What we look for in our drivers are some kind of commitment of availability, so that way we can kind of be able to provide drivers with valid work on a daily basis."

| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "It's the New York Blood Center." | |
| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "candidate", | |
| "text": "I didn't know. I haven't, like, I've never seen them post anything about jobs. I mean, I usually go on like TB Driver or Indeed and whatever comes up, that's what I look at." | |
| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Sure. Okay. So I'll just pause here real quick to see if you have any questions." | |

When I changed my route for Associated to a different route, all the nurses that I used to deliver to actually called the pharmacy and requested if they could have me come back because of how courteous and nice I was to them."

| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Absolutely. So does this sound like something you want, something you can commit to?" | |

| "text": "Okay, Westbury to Riverhead. Let me give you kind of the exact number. We actually did an order from Westbury to Riverhead, I think, just yesterday. No, no, no, actually this, yeah, yeah, early this morning at 1 a.m. That pays, how many miles do you think that is?" | |
| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "candidate", | |
| "text": "Westbury to Riverhead, I would say. I would say maybe around 45?" | |
| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Close, yeah, yeah, 50 miles. One opening is kind of the evening hours, I would say 4 to midnight, really around that kind of period, plus-minus two hours, but just at least being available in and around Westbury around those hours, right, knowing that we can reach out to you if it's earlier." | |

| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Yeah, okay, that's good to know. But don't expect to, you know, because of your experience, et cetera, you know, just be assigned 20 deliveries all at once from day one." | |

They need a reset, things like that, right? So we wouldn't even – if we're ever in a pinch, we'll reach out to you, but, you know, we need some time off as well. It's someone we can go to if we have more that we can go to, and it opens more doors for the company and the driver."
| }, | |
| { | |
| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Yes. So I really appreciate you saying that." | |

| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "Yeah, I mean, HIPAA violation is just, that's the next level, right? Okay. Do you have any other questions for me?" | |

| "role": "interviewer", | |
| "text": "So if it is a fit, we'll invite you to the next step, which will be in-person onboarding and training. And again, like I mentioned earlier, you're also assessing if this is, you know, something you want to pursue long term as well." | |
