What

Mobilizon - https://mobilizon.org/ - https://joinmobilizon.org/en/ Docs: https://docs.joinmobilizon.org/ This is a self-hosted, fediverse-compatible application that lets members create groups, and post events, an d discuss all of these.

It’s a good looking alternative to both Facebook and Meetup, which is untracked and would be community funded.

Funding and Costs

I propose to start by using a “Dev1-S” Scaleway instance, hosted in France. This will cost €12.91 per month and has 2 virtual CPUs and 2GB of ram. The next tier up, if needed, is €21.58 per month, for 3 virtual CPUs and 4GB of RAM. Mobilizon docs suggest low requirements.

Moderation and Safety

(Work in progress) Moderation docs: https://docs.joinmobilizon.org/use/administration/moderation/#moderation-discussion

Mobilizon allows a user to manage multiple public profiles on one account. For example, they might use one profile for political engagement and another for hobbies, should they want to keep those parts of their lives separate.

For moderation purposes, moderation still applies to

Backup and Restoration Practices

Automated use of the Scaleway CLI will create weekly backups of the Scaleway instance, including DB and storage.

These can be restored using the dashboard.
