Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:
-
How would you describe your work style? We both have a slighty introverted workstyle, but are both more than willing to express ourselves during planning and reviewing, and to tackle whatever comes up proactively.
-
What scheduling restraints do you have? What are your scheduling preferences? We both have set appointments, one that reoccurs every month or so, and one that is every Thursday. Scheduling preferences are in person morning and evening, and remote work throughout the night.
-
What is your style for giving feedback? Does anything ever hold you back from giving feedback? We're both very direct and have thick skins, and we have agreed to be open and honest with each other about quality of work and deadlines, etc.
Project: Number Guesser
Group Member Names: Christopher Lane & David Gitlen
Goals and Expectations for the Project (What does each group member hope to get out of this project? What do we want to achieve as a team? How will we know that we're successful?): We want to continue to hone our skills with HTML/CSS, and learn more JavaScript! We're also excited to learn how to work well in a pair/on a group, to contribute and be able to support each other.
Team strengths & collaboration styles (consider discussing your Pairin qualities here): (David) I'm hoping to capitalize on my "imaginative-inspirational" thinking style to come up with good solutions for the comp, and try to use the positive qualities of my "microscope" driver to be very supportive, while minimizing the tendency to be overly self-critical. Already my experience with Chris makes me think he will really help me with that last part, especially!
How we can use our strengths to overcome obstacles: We are both pretty understanding and mature about handling conflict and stepping in to support where necessary.
Schedule Expectations (When are we available to work together and individually? What constraints do we have?): Besides the monthly appointment and Thursday nights, no constraints.
Communication Expectations (How and often will we communicate? How do we keep lines of communication open? How will we make decisions as a team?): We're checking in with each other every day, in person and over slack. We will use this time to plan our projects/goals for the day and complete them remotely.
Abilities & Growth Expectations (Technical strengths and areas for desired improvement): We both want to learn more JavaScript and clean up our HTML/CSS.
Workload Expectations (What features do we each want to work on?): Right now we're planning on pretty evenly splitting the HTML/CSS workload, and working out the JavaScript together.
Workflow Expectations (Git workflow/Tools/Code Review/Reviewing Pull Requests/Debugging and Problem-solving Techniques): We're going to use Git, we'll review code in person.
Expectations for giving and receiving feedback: Being direct and honest, and trying to develop a safe space where all of our ideas are entertained and discussed.
Project management tools we will use: Slack and Trello.
Day 1 Agenda: Look at skeleton of HTML, divy up tasks, work out Git workflow and merging branches, and connect on a Trello board.
Additional Notes: We're working it out as we go!
I really appreciate the level of detail you went into here in setting expectations and discussing your strengths, nice work!
