List of free & open source Fediverse clients supporting iOS

Free and Open Source iOS Apps that are Fediverse clients

I haven't included paid-for, non-open source applications. These are ones that seem to be alive as of October 2024 Each one shows links to source code if available, the source code license, and the technology used.

Note that very few Fediverse servers support the ActivityPub Client to Server (C2S) spec; the defacto standard is actually the Mastodon client API, which is why these are mostly described as Mastodon apps. But many of the alternative ActivityPub servers support that API for posting.

iOS-Only Fediverse Apps

Non-Copyleft

Copyleft License

Free but not Open Source

  • SoraSNS for Mastodon & Bluesky & Misskey. Free on iOS. Doesn't seem to have source code available. Supports voice and video calling.
  • feather for Mastodon app. Website. No source available.

Cross-platform Fediverse Apps supporting iOS

Less helpful links to old, discontinued things etc

  • Gakki is React native but doesn't yet support iOS; GPL-3.0, old, JavaScript.
  • B4X Pleroma supports Android and iOS but doesn't look maintained. Apache-2.0 license. Basic (?!)
  • loris supports multiple platforms. Under CNPLv7.
  • Relatica is a Friendica multiplatform client that also seems to support Mastodon - MPL-2.0, Dart/Flutter.
  • Thunder is a multiplatform Lemmy client - Android, iOS.

Cross-posting apps

  • OpenVibe has iOS and Android apps that support Bluesky, Mastodon, Twitter, Discord, Nostr and Threads. Not open source.
  • Buffer has iOS and Android apps that support Bluesky, Mastodon, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and YouTube. Not open source.
