Automator Service to Open New Finder Window

I just saw your comment. I'm not on Mac anymore, so I wouldn't be able to test.

If you haven't gotten an answer yet, then your best bet for a quick solution is to ask on their IRC channels: #MacOSX or ##Apple.

Also, depending on your workflow, these might work:

  • restrict the spotlight index to the directories and use that.
  • try nnn or ranger these are command line directory browsers. these require learning quite a few shortcut keys though, but they work well with a vim workflow.
  • try emacs, which is worth it just for dired. see the refcard for the file management functions it provides. you lose a lot of these with tree-based browsers. emacs is a huge commitment though, so you'll need a mentor and you pretty much have to learn emacs-lisp.
