Reflections on week 2 (what went well? What would you like to do better? What do you need help with?):
I would like to feel that I am doing better to support the cohort as an SLC rep and repeater. I signed on to open the morning coffee chat for folks before class a few days this week, but my own morning schedule is still a work in progress and after opening them, I feel I'm not able to actually be as present to engage with the others before class. I want to be more proactive about engaging with others in the cohort to practice, do mock assessments, etc
Progress on your goal(s):
Leadership - while not tech-specific, I am co-leading the yoga circle and led the session during lunch on Monday. While I (used to) practice very regularly myself, I am not practiced at leading yoga. Besides the hope to rejuvenate my own practice, I am stepping into this role as a safe place to practice speaking to lead at least a small group, as well as the prep and planning to host an event even that small and casual.
Progress on your habit(s):
Besides building up my personal balance and health-oriented habits, I am also working on some more abstract habits in the form of reactivity and self-assessment. Working with a thereapist seems to be helping me make progress in catching some unhelpful patterns of self-criticism sooner, and finding more reliable ways to re-orient those reactions.
The benefits of personal time-blocking are reinforced - I felt that I did get a little closer to my ideal sleep schedule in the last week (some effect of the project pairing), and felt better able to self-advocate for the times I needed to dedicate to working with a tutor for personal practice or had other meetings without feeling guilty for those obligations away from the team project.
New ideas or changes to put into place this week:
-
Shower to kick off wind-down before bed, by 10pm
-
Tea and journal
-
Start shifting back to my former wake-up, by 6:30am
-
Reading 5 min in the morning
-
push to reach 20min morning yoga practice again
-
open morning coffee chats, feeling prepared enough for the day that I can actually engage during that time.
