Setting up habits and routines to make time for the job search this module: Block out time on your calendar this week to work on your job search. When will you make this happen? How will you hold yourself accountable to this? What activities will you focus on during this time this week? What outcomes do you hope to reach by the end of this week because of these activities?
I will be sure to utilze the allotted PD work time accordingly, and have added a block on my calendar to focus on PD after the What's A Dev panel on Thursday afternoon this week (intending to lean into some momentum after the event). I will reach out to connect with the alum referenced in my previous journal, and be sure to add more possibilities to my Huntr board (it would likely be more effective to start using that as intended, rather than so many open browser tabs).
Applying wayfinding to using job search resources Go through the resources listed here and explore 2-3 tools. Apply wayfinding: of what you looked at, what did you discover that aligns with your vision? If it didn’t align with your vision, what will you try next? Decide what tools to bookmark to explore later.
I have been exploring and starting to interact on LinkedIn a little more, and also accessed the online job board for Colorado's Department of Labor and Employment. I feel like it will be a platform for much further exploration, but I am excited to have a resource like keyvalues.com, feeling like that will be a really helpful launchpad for my searches.
Find a job posting that aligns with your vision. What’s the posting? How does it align with what you’re looking for? Add it to your Huntr.
https://www.keyvalues.com/hipcamp While their currently listed engineering roles are both directed to senior developers, I was encouraged by finding this company as they seem to fit an ideal that I could also imagine being more accessible in the earlier stages of my career (a smaller team, working on a project I would personally use, feel good about and be excited to contribute to).
What next steps will you take to explore that opportunity and find contacts? Add that information to your Huntr card.
While the currently posted roles are not only senior ones but either full-stack or mobile as well, looking at the description of their current team makes me think they could be flexible and open to considering the fit of an applicant. I don't think I would be confident to contact anyone here yet given the description of their stack and sought applicants until I have at least become comfortable with React and possibly added experience with mobile development.
