Most basically, I want to find find a developer role where I can contribute to a project whose ultimate impacts I can feel good about being a part of, and where I feel supported with opportunities for expanded learning and mentorship as a new junior developer.
I hope at some point to work with a company focused on intersections of environmental and human concerns. I am passionate about sustainable sourcing and equitable access to nutritious food, and would love to work toward creating connections that I believe could help reduce the disparities existing between unconscienable food waste and starving food deserts. Whether tied directly to their purpose, or acknowledged through more behind-the-scenes policies, the actions a company takes and their awareness of environmental conquences is a driving value in my job search. Further, I'm interested in working to lower barriers and support more promising paths forward for post-incarceration / convicted individuals as they seek to reengage with their communities and into meaningful careers. So often these histories are not truly reflective of the person or their ability to contribute, yet serve as lifelong hinderances to housing and employment, and so many other opportunities - I would love to someday find a role in which I could work to change that broken cycle.
