Lonely startup developers seeking programming partners

Hi, we are Livesheets, a startup based in London and Riga. We need an extra hand, so we're looking for additions to the team.

That's where you come in.

Livesheets is about building a brand new (patent pending) way of creating, sharing, and selling calculations. Our application enables casual users to turn a simple formula into an interactive mathematical model, play with its parts in real time, and visualize the result with style.

All this developed with the latest in open web technologies for desktop and mobile.

What you would do on the job

If you're an expert at things below, awesome! If not, it's definitely a great opportunity for you to learn and develop. Your passion is what matters.

  • Build for modern HTML5-capable browsers like Chrome 17, Firefox 10, Safari 5.1, IE 9 and higher.
  • Write back-end service code in any language you like, as long as we can run it on the JVM. Java and Scala are fine choices.
  • Write code for a JavaScript-heavy front end in anything that compiles to JavaScript. GWT is great, CoffeeScript is kinda okay.
  • Manage data in NoSQL stores such as MongoDB and Redis.
  • Test and automate all the things!
  • Solve dev issues independently by skimming through Stack Overflow, MDN, and the like.
  • Maintain the feature flow in a Kanban fashion.
  • Engage in heated software design discussions with comprehensible written and spoken English.
  • Change the world.

We owe you one chocolate coin for each of the following

  • Give us a few reasons why JavaScript is awesome.
  • Give us a few reasons why JavaScript sucks donkey balls.
  • Show familiarity with one or more functional languages, or some OO languages with functional features.
  • Describe how JVM works.
  • Explain what AWS is and how to configure EC2 instances.
  • Drop a link to your GitHub account with code in it, or to an open source project with your contributions.
