Dear Dan:
We are writing to notify you that between approximately March 4, 2013 and March 10, 2013, an unauthorized third party may have obtained access to our internal management systems associated with our Agile servers and to our Agile customers’ profiles. The information that could have potentially been exposed includes your name, email address, phone number and mailing address. We are communicating to each of our potentially affected customers that this unauthorized access may have occurred. We want to emphasize that we do not know that your information was in fact accessed, but because of the potential exposure, we want to make sure you take appropriate action.
Internap values your business and the privacy of your information and regrets that we have to write you about this matter. We have notified law enforcement and are investigating how this attack occurred so that we can prevent similar ones in the future.
We have already taken specific operational steps as additional precautionary measures, including resetting all console access to the Agile services, and placing access controls on remote access capabilities. If you have not done so already, you will need to obtain new console access credentials for the Agile services. Please visit http://ubersmith.internap.com to receive your new credentials, or contact customer support 24/7 by calling 1-877-843-4662 (US), +1-404-681-7600 (Int’l) or emailing us at [email protected].
Please watch for any suspicious communications, including messages purporting to be from Internap, the Agile Customer Portal, or any of Internap’s other platforms. Please also be suspicious about any communications that ask you for personal information, such as your email address, log on credentials or the like. We will not contact you to ask for this kind of information, but if there is any question about the legitimacy of a message that appears to originate from us, please call our consumer hotline at 1-877-843-4662 (US) and +1-404-681-7600 (Int’l). You should also avoid clicking on links contained in any email messages that appear to be suspicious.
We advise you to remain vigilant by carefully reviewing your account statements and monitoring your credit report. You may request a free credit report or place a fraud alert on your credit files with the major credit reporting agencies. More information about how to obtain a free credit report and place a fraud alert on your credit files is attached to this notice. If you detect any suspicious activity on your account, you should promptly notify the financial institution or company with which you maintain the account. It is also advisable to immediately report any fraudulent activity or any suspected identity theft to proper law enforcement authorities, your state attorney general and/or the Federal Trade Commission. Additional information about steps you can take to protect yourself from identity theft can be obtained from the office of your state Attorney General or the Federal Trade Commission.
If you have questions about this notice or this incident, you can reach us at 1-877-843-4662 (US) +1-404-681-7600 (Int’l) or [email protected].
