What to bring to a Hackathon?

Essentials

  • Laptop
    • Make sure your IDE and OS is up to date. Hackathons with a lot of people don't always have the best Wi-Fi.
  • Phone
  • Headphones
    • Preferably ANC. Hackathons can get loud.
  • ID (regardless if you're flying or not)
    • Note: REAL ID if you're in flying within US and/or Passport if you're not).
  • Chargers for your laptop, phone, and headphones
  • Powerbank (I suggest 20,000 mAH or more)
  • Pencil/Pen
  • Backpack

Overnight

  • Pillow
  • Sleeping bag or blanket
  • Eyemask
  • Pajamas
  • Earplugs
    • I've been to some hackathons which have a lot of talking and lights through the night. Bring both.

Flying

  • Plane Ticket
    • If you fly every couple of months, I'd suggest TSA PreCheck. Best thing ever.

Miscellaneous

  • Extension cord
  • Deodorant
  • Extra clothes
