Risk Assessment for DjangoCon-Europ 2015

Activities associated with arrival and departure at the conference venue

Description - Some foreign visitors may forget that traffic drives on the left in the UK

  • Consequence (scale: 1 to 10) => Personal Injury: 8
  • Likelihood (scale: 0 to 1) => Very low: 0.05
  • Risk factor (scale: 0 to 10) => 0.45

Preventative measure: Remind attendees to take especial care when crossing roads and to look out for each other

Description - General security risks associated with walking in the city centre

  • Consequence (scale: 1 to 10) => Personal Injury and loss of personal property: 7
  • Likelihood (scale: 0 to 1) => Very low: 0.15
  • Risk factor (scale: 0 to 10) => 1.05

Preventative measure: Remind attendees to take especial care and to follow usual guidelines associated with walking in a city.

Description - Potential personal injury related to slipping/falling near the conference venue

  • Consequence (scale: 1 to 10) => Personal Injury and loss of personal property: 5
  • Likelihood (scale: 0 to 1) => Low: 0.3
  • Risk factor (scale: 0 to 10) => 1.5

Preventative measure: Ensure adequate lighting is in place and risks (ice, water etc...) are correctly signed.

Activities associated with day to day activities at the venue

Description - Trailing leads for power and other services may present a trip hazard in the auditorium

  • Likelihood (scale: 0 to 1) => Low: 0.3

Preventative measure: Check that AV cables are correctly secured; ask attendees to help by not leaving power leads trailing

Description - Potential fire and other emergency

  • Risk factor (scale: 0 to 10) => 0.09

Preventative measure: A clear indication as to the evacuation procedures will be given to all attendees

Description - Food poisoning and catering related risks

  • Likelihood (scale: 0 to 1) => Low: 0.1
  • Risk factor (scale: 0 to 10) => 0.5

Preventative measure: Proper liaising with venue provided caterer as well as with delegates to inform dietary requirements.
