rename a section of a filename, i. e. example.1.{txt,conf,db} or 12345.1.{wav,ogg,mp3} and change the 1 to a 2 in the filename while preserving the rest of it.

Rename files to lower case

ClassDojo is a classroom communication app used to share reports between parents and teachers. Teachers track student behavior and upload photos or videos. The gamification style system teaches developmental skills through real-time feedback.

I had problem trying to get the serial port to read correctly, can’t remember which magical incantation i had to do, but it was on the punchthrough forums, i can go back and look if you need it.

Auto-deploying built products to gh-pages with GitHub Actions

This is a set up for projects which want to check in only their source files, but have their gh-pages branch automatically updated with some compiled output every time they push.

A file below this one contains the steps for doing this with Travis CI. However, these days I recommend GitHub Actions, for the following reasons:

It is much easier and requires less steps, because you are already authenticated with GitHub, so you don't need to share secret keys across services like you do when coordinate Travis CI and GitHub.
It is free, with no quotas.
Anecdotally, builds are much faster with GitHub Actions than with Travis CI, especially in terms of time spent waiting for a builder.

Removal of McAfee from OSX

There are a lot of commands here which I use sudo if you don't know what you're doing with sudo, especially where I rm you can severely screw up your system.

There are many reasons which you would want to remove a piece of software such as McAfee, such as not wanting it to hammer your CPU during work hours which seems like primetime for a virus scan.
