As I mentioned to you elsewhere, I would also recommend people consider donating to one of the Effective Altruism Funds. These funds offload the task of distribution your donations into several worthy charities, as strictly evaluated by experts on a recurring basis. I believe altruist funds do not suffer from drawbacks that are common in other funds like hedge funds, and so data-oriented people who are comfortable delegating decision making should consider them.
