More Donations, Less Worries

What can you do today to help humanity with The Ultimate List of Worries, in Priority Order?

Around 780,000,000 people live with less than $1.9 per day.

An average of 913 people will die today from hunger (based on 2017 statistics for deaths from "Nutritional deficiencies" and "Protein-energy malnutrition").

$1 will make a difference in that life and death situation.

Donate to Give Directly and help alleviate the suffering for at least one person for one day.

Right now there are from 700,000 to 6,000,000 people suffering from the final stages of cancer, respiratory problems, dementia, and other age-related diseases.

Those are only counting those that are going to die in the next weeks.

An average of 105,000 deaths preceded by long term suffering every day.

Let's fund research to deal with those diseases and alleviate suffering! Donate to SENS and let's make a difference.

Expertise matters. When we are ill we go to the doctor, but usually it's best to seek out a general practitioner first. If we have cancer it's better to seek out an oncologist.

Effective Altruism Funds provide expertise in altruism, when we think the general practive of unconditional cash transfers will not be effective enough for the problems we see.

These funds offload the task of distribution your donations into several worthy charities, as strictly evaluated by experts on a recurring basis.

Donate now to the Global Health and Development Fund and let experts increase the impact where it matters most.

As I mentioned to you elsewhere, I would also recommend people consider donating to one of the Effective Altruism Funds. These funds offload the task of distribution your donations into several worthy charities, as strictly evaluated by experts on a recurring basis. I believe altruist funds do not suffer from drawbacks that are common in other funds like hedge funds, and so data-oriented people who are comfortable delegating decision making should consider them. In the case of the Global Health and Development Fund, you can evaluate its payouts here.
