With version 2.1.0 of the BetterCrewLink fork of CrewLink, it's now possible for non-PC Among Us players to play with proximity chat. This works using a web app version of the CrewLink software that you can connect to on a computer (ideally) or a phone. This is not officially supported yet, so problems may arise.
IMPORTANT: There must be at least 1 PC player running BetterCrewLink in the lobby for any mobile players to be able to connect. If there are no PC players in the lobby, the voice server will not be able to get positional information from the game, so proximity chat will not work.
This setup process is very similar to the original CrewLink - you can consult the video guide for more detailed instructions.
- Download and run Better-CrewLink-Setup-2.1.0.exe from this page. This will install the BetterCrewLink software.
- Once you have BetterCrewLink and Among Us open, click the gear in the top left of the BetterCrewLink window and scroll all the way down. Ensure that Mobile host is checked.
- Click on Change Voice Server. Change the voice server to http://bettercrewl.ink.
- You're all set - enjoy using BetterCrewLink as you would normally.
For other players, you can use the web app to connect to a CrewLink game. I highly recommend running the web app on a nearby computer, but it may work on a mobile device as well. (update: it really doesn't work on mobile very well. Just use a computer, any kind should be fine.)
- Open Among Us on your device. Wait for one or more PC players running BetterCrewLink to start a lobby, then join their lobby.
- Go to https://web.bettercrewl.ink/ in a web browser on your computer or phone.
- Enter your in-game name in exactly as it's written in Among Us.
- Enter the lobby code of your lobby.
- Ensure the NAT FIX box is checked.
- If you're using the BetterCrewLink web app on a computer, choose your audio input device from the menu under Microphone debug. If you're not sure what to choose, leave the default option selected.
- Hit connect. If all goes well, you should see a list of the players in your lobby, and you should now be able to talk to and hear everyone with positional audio.
-
There is an Android app that could be used as well - I have not personally tested it, but if you run Android it's worth a try. It seems to work very similarly to the web app. You will still need to have at least one PC player running BetterCrewLink to use the Android app.

Some PC users might run into audio device errors with BetterCrewLink that don't happen with the original. If this happens to you, install the original and follow the steps above, while skipping step 3. As long as at least one PC player in the lobby can run BetterCrewLink to host voice chat for mobile players, everything should still work.
-
Push to talk, mute, and deafen do not appear to work in the web app.

If you are getting very high CPU usage while running BetterCrewLink, try disabling VAD in the BetterCrewLink settings menu. This has been reported to lower CPU usage.
