The 22nd April of every year since 1970 is Earth Day! It's a day where everyone should think a little bit more of the environment and what we can do to save the planet from catastrophic changes that our society are likely to be responsible for.
Every theory have deniers but it seems quite accepted that advanced societies have major (bad) impacts on the life on Earth. I'm sure you heard about it, but here's a great explanatory video from crash course, terrific channel by the way.

Even the human race might survive ourselves, but how our actions will affect our quality of life?
Earth Day is a chance to focus on what can be improved to keep our quality of life from decline dramatically. Try something eco-friendly one day and see how it can fit your everyday lifestyle.
Anything you can think of which has positive effects on decreasing pollution is good, also sharing awareness is important. Here's some ideas I found on the internet for you:
- pick up road-side trash
- using recyclable containers for snacks and lunches
- avoid use of cars
- save energy
- turn aircon off
- diminish artificial illumination
- switch off electronic devices when leaving
- be vegetarian (or eat less meat)
- one calorie of meet needs 9 calories of veggies to be produced
NetEngine is very happy to exist on this planet and in order to minimize its impact on pollution we already have in place some simple good practices, such as recycling or providing showers so people can come to work by bike. And we're thinking of how to take this further. In the meanwhile, to show our respect for Mother Earth on its day we're taking some initiatives such as inviting everyone to avoid using the car, keeping the aircon off for the entire day, minimize the use of illumination and other polluting devices.

I strongly advise you watching Hans Rosling Ted talk, very inpiring and quite funny (as all his talks).
Don't wait for 2014, make your own Earth Day tomorrow!
